This position is for a Registered Nurse (RN) on the UW Health Inpatient Acute Care General Surgery unit at University Hospital in Madison, WI. The role is 90% FTE, involving day/evening shifts with required every other weekend and holiday rotations, with hours based on departmental operational needs. The RN will join a team caring for high acuity general care level patients on a 28-bed unit, providing post-operative care for complex abdominal surgeries (esophagus, stomach, small bowel, colon, liver, pancreas, gallbladder, bile ducts, including Whipple procedures). Responsibilities include managing surgical drains, nasogastric tube placement, administering enteral nutrition, complex wound care with wound vacs, epidural and PCA pain pump management, and stoma care. The role involves collaboration with multiple surgical services and specialty certified Wound and Ostomy RNs.
