About The Position

The Quality Assurance Infection Preventionist (QA-IP) is a Registered Nurse (RN) who, under the direction of the facility QAPI Leadership, is responsible for coordinating, directing, and managing the Quality Assessment and Assurance Program, Restorative Nursing Program, Antibiotic Stewardship Program (ASP), and the Infection Prevention and Control Program (IPCP) in accordance with CMS and facility requirements.

Requirements

  • Primary professional training in nursing, medical technology, microbiology, epidemiology, or related field.
  • Prefer 1 year of RN experience with infection prevention and control procedures.
  • Ability to sit, stand, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and perform overhead lifting.
  • Ability to lift and carry over 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in ongoing education to maintain licensure and CMS requirements.
  • Assist with completion of the annual facility assessment.
  • Collaborate with facility leaders to develop policies, procedures, and training plans.
  • Plan, organize, and implement educational and oversight programs related to QA, IPCP, ASP, and Restorative Nursing.
  • Educate staff, residents, and families on stewardship, rehospitalization prevention, and quality initiatives.
  • Monitor documentation and provide timely feedback.
  • Perform surveillance monitoring.
  • Conduct outbreak investigations and reporting.
  • Monitor infection control practices during rounds and take corrective action.
  • Analyze infection data for trends and develop action plans.
  • Maintain resident and employee immunizations, TB screening, and documentation.
  • Complete required reports and audits.
  • Participate actively in QAPI Steering Committee duties.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
