About The Position

UofL Health is a fully integrated regional academic health system comprising five hospitals, four medical centers, nearly 200 physician practice locations, over 700 providers, the Frazier Rehab Institute, and Brown Cancer Center. The RN Educator III collaborates with leadership and the Office of Professional Practice to develop and implement nursing professional development programs across UofL Health. This role supports high standards of quality and safety in patient care and nursing practice, aiming for improved patient outcomes. The educator ensures that professional development programs are facilitated by appropriately prepared educational professionals using evidence-based best practices and technology to meet the needs of nursing staff and interdisciplinary partners, aligning with organizational, facility, and Office of Professional Practice strategic goals. The employee actively participates in quality improvement (QI), evidence-based practice (EBP), and nursing research processes across the system, serving as a professional role model for the organization's core behaviors, standards, values, and missions.

Requirements

Bachelor of Science in Nursing from an accredited program
Master’s degree in nursing, leadership, or education
Minimum of five (5) years as a Registered Nurse in area of clinical specialty
Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in education, teaching or professional development
Active Kentucky Registered Nurse License or compact license with privileges to work in Kentucky
Professional nursing certification in professional development, leadership or education
American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider
Strong abilities in learning design and implementation
Able to work collaboratively to achieve desired department and facility results
Demonstrated ability for project management, program evaluation and competency assessment
Evidence-based practice and educational modalities, including evaluation of learning and associated patient / organizational outcomes
Must be able to communicate effectively in both verbal and written formats
Able to critically think through complex organizational processes, and identify areas for improvement
Able to assist others in developing clinical reasoning skills
Proficient with computerized documentation, Microsoft Office applications, data extraction and analysis
Proficient with utilization of learning technologies

DNP, PhD or EdD
Professional nursing certification (ANCC Recognized) in clinical specialty

Serves as an example to nursing staff in the delivery of excellent patient care
Collaborates with leadership to develop, evaluate, and implement standards of patient care / care planning and professional practice with attention to quality, service, cost effectiveness, comfort, safety, age specific implications, and cultural competence

Incorporates principles of adult learning and evidence-based education in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of education and competency programs
Participates in learning technologies via simulation, LMS, virtual classroom, and multimedia
Communicates effectively in visual, oral, and written form and demonstrates effective presentation skills
Maintains affiliation with professional organizations
Obtains and maintains professional nursing certification in professional development and/or education
Fosters attainment of professional development and certification for bedside nursing staff through mentoring, classes, programs, and study groups
Selects, develops, evaluates and mentors staff in the areas of education and research
