Requirements

• Graduate of accredited nursing program or Associate's Degree or higher in related health field.
• RHIA, BSN, RHIT or RN required.
• Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision in a multidisciplinary setting.
• Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
• Requires 5 years of experience in acute patient care or Inpatient Hospital Coding.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills to maintain good rapport with physicians, hospital administration, nurses and other healthcare team members.
• Ability to prioritize.
• Computer skills related to data entry, management, retrieval and presentation.
• Ability to accept responsibility, analyze problems, evaluate reports and make decisions and recommendations required.
• Ability to demonstrate initiative and good judgment in a self-directed role.
• Must be flexible and able to manage job functions despite shifting priorities.

Nice To Haves

• Familiarity with process improvement principles and the application preferred.
• Knowledge and application of federal, state, HFAP and quality improvement regulations.
• Knowledge and experience with EPIC, 3M and Microsoft office preferred.
