Position Summary The Director of Patient Services is a senior leadership role responsible for the overall management, growth, and quality of hospice services across Community Hospice and two (2) Inpatient Units. This position plays a critical role in strategic planning, program expansion, fiscal oversight, regulatory compliance, and organizational development in alignment with the mission of Good Shepherd Hospice and Catholic Health.

Requirements

  • Current and valid New York State Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; Master’s degree preferred
  • Minimum of five (5) years of healthcare management and/or supervisory experience
  • Prior experience as a Nurse Manager in an acute care setting
  • Minimum of three (3) years of bedside nursing experience in acute care
  • Demonstrated knowledge of hospice philosophy, Medicare Conditions of Participation, and hospice policies and procedures
  • Ability to assess the needs of terminally ill patients and their families, including planning and oversight of symptom management
  • Strong proficiency with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement hospice-specific strategic initiatives to support program growth and service expansion
  • Provide leadership, supervision, and coordination of all clinical and operational activities related to the delivery of high-quality hospice care within the designated service area
  • Drive census growth through strategic initiatives in the community, skilled nursing facilities, and inpatient settings
  • Collaborate with the President and Director of Finance to ensure fiscal responsibility, financial stability, and sustainable growth of the hospice program
  • Partner with the President of Good Shepherd Hospice in organizational planning, priority setting, and the identification, development, and evaluation of short- and long-term goals
  • Ensure compliance with Medicare Conditions of Participation and all applicable regulatory and accreditation standards
  • Promote continuous quality improvement, patient safety, and excellence in end-of-life care
