About The Position

This position requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the mission of Saddleback Medical Center. The employee shall support Saddleback Medical Center’s strategic plan and participate in and advocate performance improvement/patient safety activities. Utilizing the nursing process and clinical nursing practice standards, the RN is responsible for directing and coordinating nursing care for the Operating Room patient in accordance with the policies and procedures of the Surgical Services and the Nursing Departments. Responsibilities include directing unlicensed employee activity, synthesizing patient information, assessment of patients, planning of care/interventions, teaching patients/family, implementation of treatment plan/MD orders, and evaluation of care rendered. Furthermore, this position serves as the subject matter expert in providing surgical assistance in a safe, appropriate and effective manner. Additional responsibilities include but not limited to: provision of availability/maintenance of instruments, adherence to aseptic technique, advanced knowledge of surgical procedures and support to patient flow within department and designate service line. The RN must effectively communicate and document data relevant to the care of the patient. Provides support and communicates directly with surgical team and management staff. The OR Clinical Coordinator must use effective oral communication and participate in aspects of documentation. In addition, this position collaborates with other professional disciplines to ensure safe and effective patient care delivery and the achievement of desired patient outcomes .

Requirements

• Current California RN License required
• Current American Heart Association Basic Cardiac Life Support Card required
• One year of Acute Care experience in Operating Room Nursing preferred.
• Computer, internet, order entry and word processing experience preferred.
• Ability to fulfill the on-call requirement of the department

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor’s degree in nursing or higher preferred
• Current Nurse Operating Room Certification preferred
