About The Position

The RN Consultant is responsible for ensuring the general well-being of the residents through the delivery of high quality services in a manner that is consistent with the philosophy of assisted living and the facility. The RN is responsible for the management and supervision of the medication aides and must be in compliance with applicable state laws and regulations.

Requirements

  • Must be a Health Care Professional in good standing
  • Must possess a high degree of interpersonal relation skills and the capability of relating to a variety of people and personalities
  • Considerable initiative, judgement, and leadership skills are also required

Responsibilities

  • Provide Oversight for Medication Aides Including:
  • Monitors and reviews medication aide competency (two-year requirement), including:
  • Five Rights
  • Hand Washing
  • Glove Technique
  • Privacy, knocking before entering
  • Questions related to what medication is used for
  • PRN Direction: PRN Direction & Monitoring
  • PRN medication charting & follow through
  • PRN protocol
  • Chart Review: Service Assessments
  • Allergies, Diagnosis
  • Doctor’s orders for all medications
  • Reviews and signs Medication Aide policy & procedures yearly
  • Conducts or reviews resident’s Annual Medication Assessment
  • Must be a Health Care Professional in good standing in the state
  • Reviews and updates PRN protocol
  • Health Care Professional contact for Direction & Monitoring residents
  • Provides 40-hour Medication Aide training
  • Available for Direction & Monitoring for Health Care Professional for medication errors
  • Continuing Education (12 hours required), including:
  • OSHA
  • Blood Borne Pathogens
  • Emergency Care
  • T.B.
  • Ergonomics
  • Diabetic Care
  • Catheter Care
  • O2 Therapy
  • DNR’s are current, signed and available where all staff can find in emergency
  • Review narcotic record keeping
  • Review Wellness Visits
  • Dispose of discontinued medication
  • Self-administration of Medication Assessments
  • Administrative Responsibilities
  • Plans and completes duties with minimal direction from supervisor
  • Must have strong organizational and time management skills
  • Initiative, judgment, and leadership skills are also required
  • Additional Responsibilities
  • Works collaboratively with peers and other team members promoting and facilitating interactive problem solving with staff
  • Uses tactful, diplomatic communication techniques in potentially sensitive or emotionally charged situations
  • Acts as ambassador and public relations representative
  • Understands that personal liability insurance is available under Stone Hearth’s Estates liability insurance and RN is not personally responsible when operating under RN’s scope of practice
