About The Position

A large, high-acuity acute care hospital in Kansas City is seeking an experienced RN Clinical Nurse Coordinator (CNC) to support its Orthopedic / Neuro Trauma unit. This Level I Trauma and Stroke Center delivers advanced, patient-centered care across a wide range of medical and surgical specialties and serves as a regional referral hub. The Clinical Nurse Coordinator (CNC) provides shift-based leadership and coordination of patient care for the Orthopedic / Neuro Trauma unit. This role supports safe staffing, clinical quality, and efficient unit operations while serving as a clinical and professional resource for nursing staff. The CNC works closely with nursing leadership to promote teamwork, staff engagement, and optimal patient outcomes.

Requirements

  • Strong current acute care Registered Nurse experience in a Medical-Surgical setting required
  • RN Diploma or Associate Degree in Nursing – Required
  • Active RN license in the state of practice or valid compact license
  • BLS and ACLS required within 30 days of hire

Nice To Haves

  • Charge Nurse experience preferred
  • Alternatively, 2+ years of recent Med-Surg RN experience considered
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) – Preferred
  • Participation in professional nursing organizations encouraged

Responsibilities

  • Direct, monitor, and evaluate nursing care provided on the unit
  • Support patient admissions, discharges, and overall patient throughput
  • Collaborate with the nursing leadership team to assess and improve quality of care
  • Lead staff engagement initiatives, including hourly rounding and staff rounding
  • Provide input and recommendations related to hiring, training, and professional development
  • Assist with staffing schedules, labor management, and resource utilization
  • Maintain appropriate inventory levels and support equipment and supply management
