About The Position

We are seeking an experienced RN Clinical Nurse Coordinator (CNC) to provide charge-level leadership on a high-acuity Ortho/Neuro Trauma medical-surgical unit. This role blends direct patient care with shift-based leadership responsibilities, ensuring safe staffing, clinical excellence, and effective coordination of care. Candidates must be comfortable working in a 6:1 nurse-to-patient ratio and serving as a visible clinical leader on nights.

Requirements

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (state or compact)
  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing
  • Strong, current acute care Medical-Surgical nursing experience
  • Recent Charge Nurse experience in Med-Surg strongly preferred , OR Minimum 2 years of recent Med-Surg staff RN experience
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) – required within 30 days of hire
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) – required within 30 days of hire
  • Ability to function in a fast-paced, high-acuity trauma environment

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • Prior experience in Ortho, Neuro, or Trauma-focused Med-Surg units
  • Demonstrated interest in future nursing leadership or management roles

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and oversee unit operations during the assigned shift
  • Provide charge nurse leadership while maintaining a patient assignment
  • Ensure high-quality, patient-centered nursing care and efficient throughput
  • Support admissions, transfers, and discharges to optimize patient flow
  • Serve as a clinical resource and mentor for nursing staff
  • Assist with staff scheduling and daily labor management
  • Participate in quality improvement, patient safety, and service recovery initiatives
  • Support onboarding, training, and performance management of nursing staff
  • Ensure compliance with clinical policies, procedures, and regulatory standards
  • Assist with supply management and inventory control
