Position: RN Clinical Intake Advisor Department: Chemical Dependency Alcohol and Drug Detox Core Roles and Responsibilities • At point of intake/admission, interviews patient and families to obtain and complete pre-admission assessment. • Conducts pre-admission assessments as assigned. Immediately or by scheduling an appointment. • Attends treatment team meetings with program staff. • Establishes and maintains working relationships with community agencies to provide most appropriate service to patients and to help foster a good working relationship with outside agencies and the staff. • Participate in taking calls, establishes an on-call roster. • Demonstrates developmental interactional skills with the elderly and mentally ill. • Demonstrates behavior management skills with the clients and families. • Is point person for calls and triage. • Has necessary skills to assess level of care required during intake interview and make appropriate treatment recommendations. • Communicates information accurately to physician and treatment team. • Preforms pre-certification duties as required. • Maintains accurate records of inquiries, assessments, intakes and follow-up activities. • Acts as a liaison with medical/professional staff. • Orientates new staff on intake process • Writes to-the-point, informative, concise, social history summaries. Give concise summary of relevant information at patient staff meetings. • Presents clear accurate program information during pre-screening. • Preforms all assignments on time- without reminders. • Brings request for changes in task quantity and quality. • Demonstrates flexibility and ability to manage greater quantity of work during peak seasons by prioritizing services and meetings. • Develops positive working relationships with outside agencies, staff, and patients. Education and Experience Current RN license by the Mississippi Board of Nursing Must be able to read, write, understand verbal and written communication Must have at least one year’s experience in mental health, preferred experience with intakes and admissions. Will be required to make insurance calls to acquire patient days on the unit. Preferred Qualifications CPR or ACLS Certification Prefer a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in behavioral health or three years’ experience in a behavioral health related field with references.
