About The Position

The RN Clinical Educator develops education and delivers training, technology, skills, and evidence-based practices to clinical staff to improve patient care, acting as a mentor and leader who bridges education and clinical practice through various educational avenues. The role serves as a liaison between clinical staff and management and will assist with overall competency assessment, ensuring quality standards are met, while fostering professional growth.

Requirements

  • Excellent communication skills, particularly the ability to communicate as an educator and interpersonal interactions.

  • Ability to effectively educate and mentor staff of diverse backgrounds and skill levels.
  • Conflict Resolution: identifying early signs of tension, encouraging empathy, acting as a mediator
  • Intermediate computer skills, including but not limited to: Microsoft Office, information security, scheduling and payroll systems, electronic medical documentation, and email.
  • Technology skills: maintaining electronic medical record and ability to learn/use associated healthcare software
  • Proficient in using various medical devices and technology
  • Intermediate math skills
  • Flexibility to teach when clinical staff are available to learn – all shifts to include nights and weekends
  • Associate degree in nursing required; bachelor degree preferred.
  • Valid RN license to work in Texas
  • BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC
  • At least 5 years of clinical nursing experience required with advanced knowledge of nursing theory and clinical practices
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Prolonged periods of standing and walking.
  • Physical strength and endurance to include: Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds at times, strength to push or pull up to 100 pounds when moving equipment or patients, and ability to perform CPR.
  • Mobility: frequent bending/stooping/reaching/twisting; Must be able to navigate various departments of the organization’s physical premises.
  • Hand dexterity: Use of hands and fingers for a wide range of tasks, including grasping, writing, typing, and operating small medical equipment; Fine motor control: Sufficient dexterity for tasks such as picking up small objects, and manipulating syringes
  • Sensory Skills: Adequate vision for observing patients, monitors, indicators, and hearing to understand instructions and patient needs.
  • Stress Level: Moderate to High
  • Category I: Tasks that involve exposure to blood, body fluids or tissues.
  • All procedures or other job-related tasks involve an inherent potential for mucous membrane or skin contact with blood, body fluids or tissues or a potential for spills or splashes of them are Category I tasks. Use of appropriate protective measures, such as gloves, masks, goggles, and gown are required for every employee engaged in Category I tasks.

  • Certified Nurse Educator credential preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a role model, mentor, and preceptor, guiding staff in clinical judgment, patient care, and professional development.
  • Assess and evaluate the performance and skillset of clinical staff, providing constructive feedback.
  • Design, implement, and update educational and training programs, curriculum, and orientation for students, new and existing clinical staff, while motivating and guiding staff to adopt new practices and technologies.
  • Stay current on industry trends, developments, technologies and best practices in order to integrate new information into educational programs.
  • Teach through various methods like lectures, simulations, workshops, and online modules, both in classrooms and clinical settings, and assessing the effectiveness of the program.
  • Work with management and healthcare teams to align education with organizational goals and patient needs.
  • Promote evidence-based practice, conduct research, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Within the nursing scope of practice, provide medical care, assessment, and treatment; educate patients about their conditions; and, provide emotional support to patients and families.
  • Serve as a clinical tutor in real-world scenarios while working directly with patients to demonstrate and evaluate clinical staffing
  • Accurately and timely document in the Electronic Medical Record.
  • Employ the rights of medication administration.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, professionalism, and continuous improvement.
  • Conduct regular rounding on patients and staff to ensure safety, quality, and service excellence.
  • Assist with policy development and implementation.
  • Perform other related duties to benefit the mission of the organization.
