About The Position

Clinical Instructors provide clinical training, education, and develops performance-based learning experiences that support SBL nursing departments. Identifies and provides training solutions to identified performance issues. Measures achievement of learning objectives and provides support, as needed or requested. Department: Clinical Education supporting Surgical Services Department Hours: Full-Time, 40 hours a week required Shift: Monday - Friday Day shift (hours may vary) Required: BSN, IL Registered Nurse, ACLS and BLS within 90 days of hire Pay: based on experience, starting at $37.23

  • BLS or CPR certification within 90 days of hire. - Sarah Bush Lincoln
  • RN-Registered Nurse - Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation

Responsibilities

  • Collaboration with Quality Management and Clinical Director – RN as assigned.
  • Consults and collaborates with other Clinical Educators, Office Assistant Educator, Registration Educator, nurses and other disciplines to assure appropriate clinical staff education and follow-up.
  • Develops and coordinates clinical education and competency evaluations for patient care personnel in the assigned division. Validates competency for staff upon hire and annually thereafter.
  • Establishes stability and reduces variance in operations and procedures related to clinical quality. Promotes and utilizes Quality Improvement principles and methods to achieve high quality care and services.
  • Evaluation - Evaluates progress toward attainment of goals and outcomes. Reports data and outcomes to others as appropriate.
  • Implementation - Implements care or work plan in alignment with the plan and approved safety, infection control,and department/organization standards.
  • Knowledge - In collaboration with leaders, actively pursues required knowledge and skills through orientation activities specific to the position, reading current literature and seeking new learning opportunities.
  • Planning - Develops a plan that prescribes strategies to attain expected, measurable outcomes.
  • Relationships - Establishes effective working relationships with peers, physicians, and other members of the health care / work team. Identifies and confers with appropriate resources regarding patient / work decisions.
  • Responds to appropriate requests and initiatives from Administration, other Directors and Managers, physicians, and staff to improve and/or expand clinical services.
  • Responsible for the development, implementation and evaluation of departmental policies, procedures, protocols and standards to maintain high clinical quality.
  • Teaching - Employs teaching strategies to promote health and a safe environment.
