About The Position

PeaceHealth is seeking a RN Clinic - Orthopedics for a Full Time, 1.00 FTE, Day position. PeaceHealth has been serving the communities of Southeast Alaska since 1923 with Ketchikan Medical Center, a 25-bed critical-access hospital offering comprehensive trauma care, outpatient and home health services, and a 29-bed long-term care facility. Primary and specialty medical care is provided by PeaceHealth Medical Group-Ketchikan and Prince of Wales Island. Our Trauma IV emergency department operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, staffed by physicians who are independent contractors employed by National Emergency Services (NES). Requirements

  • Accredited School of Nursing Required.
  • Required: Registered Nurse in state of practice and
  • Required: Upon Hire Basic Life Support and
  • Required: Fingerprinting - State of Alaska (only required for Alaska positions)
  • Demonstrated ability to promote positive interpersonal relationships and patient/family centered work environment (Required)
  • Basic computer skills including MS Office applications (Required)
  • Effective prioritization skills (Required)
  • Ability to provide health education to patients, staff and community (Required)
  • Knowledge of Medicare, JCAHO, DNV & HCFA regulations pertaining to ambulatory care (Required)

Nice To Haves

  • 1 year Preferred: Registered nurse
  • Preferred: Upon Hire Advanced Cardiac Life Support and

Responsibilities

  • Assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care needs. This includes assessing patient's condition, triaging patient phone calls, counseling patients, providing patient education, taking patient histories, administering prescribed medications, changing dressings, cleaning wounds and monitoring patient vital signs.
  • Documents patient care in the healthcare record according to established standards.
  • Ensures own professional effectiveness through education and professional development.
  • Participates in the development of and maintains established policies, procedures and objectives; quality improvement; safety; environmental and infection prevention programs.
  • Demonstrates competence in making professional judgements pertaining to patient care.
  • May screen and prioritize patient telephone or walk in inquiries concerning their medical care, prescription refills and insurance authorizations and referrals.
  • Evaluates and responds appropriately to urgent or emergency situations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
