The RN will primarily provide support for the physicians and act as a liaison between the patient, the front office staff, and the physicians.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program with an Associate's Degree, Nursing Diploma, Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, or Master's Degree in Nursing
  • Minimum 1 year to nursing experience
  • Current and valid Registered Nurse license with the State of Arkansas
  • Excellent communication skills, basic computer skills, strong work ethic and accountability
  • Employee must successfully complete a UAMS-sponsored conflict management training to identify, prevent, and mitigate disruptive behaviors using methods such as non-escalation, de-escalation, personal protection from physical assaults, and physical alternatives within six months of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • 2 or more years of registered nurse experience
  • Current BLS
  • A successful candidate will have a clinical background preferably in psychiatry or behavioral health.
  • Primary duties will be to triage to determine the urgency of patient care, handle all crisis calls, answer medication questions in collaboration with physicians, take vital signs, review lab work and present exceptions to physicians, provide clinical assessment for initial call backs and other duties as assigned.
  • A successful candidate will have good communicational skills, good time management and priority management skills, ability to prioritize and work with autonomy, good organizational skills, familiarity with psychiatric medication and interactions, and clinical experience with psychiatric patients and/or environment.

Responsibilities

  • The Registered Nurse (RN) delivers nursing care for patients within the limits of the Nurse Practice Act of the State of Arkansas and adheres to institutional policies, procedures and standards.
  • The RN is responsible to adhere to the standard of care defined by UAMS, ANA, and Standards for specialty patient population with support and mentoring by other team members.
  • Collects and documents assessment data.
  • Develops a Plan of Care (POC) per standard.
  • Implements POC including medical order and interdisciplinary approach.
  • Evaluates the progress of patient toward attainment of desired outcomes.
  • Provides effective patient/family education/discharge planning.
  • Administers medication per standard including drug information to patients/families.
  • Acts as a resource/supports others.
  • Delivers patient care using the principles of the defined nursing modality.
  • Delegates care based on UAMS standards, legal and regulatory requirements, specific job description and individual level of education and training.
  • Contributes to a positive work environment that is conducive to clinical education while serving as a resource for student nurses and staff.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.
