About The Position

The Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist Nurse provides individualized nursing care services to patients undergoing EP and structural heart procedures within the standards of nursing practice. In this position, the nurse plays a lead role in the organization and preparation for the procedure, provides for the comfort and safety of the patient pre- and postprocedure, and provides direct assistance to the interventionist during the procedure, either in a scrub, nursing, or recording capacity.

Requirements

  • Associated in Nursing required
  • 2 years experience in EP Lab
  • BLS and ACLS required
  • Active Florida RN License

Responsibilities

  • Assists physician as necessary to provide support during invasive and non-invasive procedures.
  • Responsible for managing the individualized patient care by promoting and restoring patients’ health through the nursing process.
  • Provides direct patient care, including assessment, diagnosis, planning implementation, evaluation, and patient health education within the guidelines of the standards of nursing care.
  • Utilizes appropriate aseptic techniques to prevent contamination and transfer of infections. Based on assessment, notifies medical staff or problems/concerns.
  • Ensures sterility of all equipment and surgical supplies. Monitors sterile technique and handles breaks in technique appropriately.
  • Ensures that all equipment and supplies are available and in working order for each case. Follows policy and procedure for handling instruments, sponges, and skin closures/sutures. Anticipates surgeon’s requirements and assists physician as necessary with procedures.
  • Record, interpret, and report advanced electrophysiology data in direct collaboration with the EP physician throughout the continuum of care.
