The Heart, Vascular & Thoracic Institute cares for patients with a variety of heart, vascular and thoracic diseases and provides the highest level of patient care, innovative treatments and a welcoming environment to all. The primary focus of this 17-bed unit is exceptional care of Medical/Surgical and Cardiology Step-down patients, including but not limited to: Cardiothoracic, Transplant, Vascular, Orthopaedic, Urology, Colorectal and Spine surgeries. In addition to, Coronary and Electrophysiological interventions. This care is given in a state-of-the-art therapeutic environment by staff specifically trained in all of the clinical care areas, as well as the service of high amenity patients. A PRN caregiver in this position works varying shifts from 7:00am – 7:30pm.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing (ADN or BSN program)
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
  • External applicants must have two years recent related nursing experience
  • Internal applicants with less than two years’ experience but post orientation /90 day probationary period could be considered with Chief Nursing Officer level review and approval
  • Successfully pass all prescreen competency assessments required
  • Will consider licensed military RN experience

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care.
  • Implement, monitor, evaluate, update and revise patient care plans.
  • Monitor, record, document and communicate patients’ conditions.
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments.
  • Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
  • Assess and coordinate patients’ discharge needs.
  • Educate patients and their families.
