About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) for the Behavioral Health Service Line (BHSL) Interventional Psychiatry Hospital-Based Outpatient Department is responsible for a broad range of activities that are critical to the functioning of the services. The RN will consistently provide effective direct care to a variety of patients, work as part of the interdisciplinary team, based on licensure, title, and competencies. The RN seeks, as well as provides, feedback for improved clinical practice. The RN integrates theory and research into clinical practice. PRI Interventional Services includes ECT (Electroconvulsive Therapy), Esketamine Administration, and IV Ketamine Infusions. The RN works under the direct supervision of the CSM. Employee must successfully complete a UAMS-sponsored conflict management training to identify, prevent, and mitigate disruptive behaviors using methods such as non-escalation, de-escalation, personal protection from physical assaults, and physical alternatives within six months of hire. The BHSL Interventional Psychiatry Hospital-Based Outpatient Department is located in the Psychiatric Research Institute building on the main UAMS campus.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program with an Associate's Degree in Nursing, Nursing Diploma, Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, or Master's Degree in Nursing
  • Minimum 1 year of Registered Nurse experience
  • Current and valid Registered Nurse license in the State of Arkansas
  • Excellent communication skills, basic computer skills, strong work ethic, and accountability

Nice To Haves

  • 2 or more years of Registered Nurse experience
  • Current BLS

  • Participates in Performance Improvement, Evidence Based Practice/Research process.
  • Systematically evaluates the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice.
  • Supports the integration of current evidence into nursing practices.
  • Promotes an environment conducive to positive educational experience for all students and staff.
  • Provides effective patient/family education/discharge planning.
  • Acts as a resource/support to others in the performance of duties.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to the personal and professional development of other UAMS employees.
  • Participates in recruitment/retention of staff.
  • Facilitates development and implementation of nursing practice standards that are evidence-based and in compliance with ANA standards.
  • Delegates care based on UAMS standards, legal and regulatory requirements, specific job descriptions, scope of practice and individual level of education and training.
  • Perform other duties as needed.
