The 8100 Family Practice Unit at Akron General is a high acuity, fast-paced, Neuro/Cardiac Telemetry unit with patients that require extensive ADL assistance. Caregivers in this unit care for patients with strokes, pneumonia, FTT, weakness, confusion, sepsis, PEG care, central lines, multiple antibiotic therapies, blood transfusions, IV push/cardiac drip medications and tracheostomy care. As an RN, you will deliver exceptional care throughout the patient care journey. In this role, you will interact directly with patients and their families, offering the opportunity to enhance their experience and provide healthcare education as needed.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing (ADN or BSN program)
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) upon or within one year of hire

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • NIH Stroke Scale certification

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care.
  • Assess, plan, implement and evaluate care for a given patient population.
  • Complete ongoing assessments, recognize changes in patient condition and respond appropriately.
  • Develop and update goals, involve patients and families in developing plans of care, coordinate the interdisciplinary plan of care and serve as a patient advocate.
  • Provide nursing care, administer treatments and medication and document.
  • Participate in ongoing interdisciplinary evaluation of patient/family outcomes, contribute to the improvement of care and participate in the quality improvement process.
  • Delegate tasks/assignments, serve as a resource person, pursue ongoing education and specialty certifications, maintain applicable certification/licensure and obtain any required certifications specific to the unit.
