About The Position

The Risk Placement Specialist (RPS) is a critical member of our Scott client service team. Functionally, the RPS is responsible for communicating insurance placement needs, on behalf of Scott clients, to the most appropriate and competitive property and casualty insurance carrier partners/policy providers. The RPS drives desired coverage and pricing outcomes through effective negotiation with underwriters. Furthermore, the RPS provides policy quote analysis of competing carrier proposals back to the client service team and insured client or prospect.

  • Sales‑driven and solution‑oriented mindset focused on supporting production goals and long‑term organic growth
  • Strong creative and analytical problem‑solving skills with a proven ability to negotiate effectively
  • Ability to set priorities and manage workflow to ensure efficient, timely, and accurate completion of work
  • Commitment to staying informed about industry developments, emerging coverages, legislation, products, and technology to continuously enhance expertise
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Active Property & Casualty insurance license, or willingness to obtain within an agreed‑upon timeframe
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain professional, cordial, and effective working relationships with producers, team members, carriers, vendors, and other business partners
  • Strong team orientation with the ability to collaborate purposefully, share knowledge, and support collective business goals

Responsibilities

  • Lead negotiation efforts by presenting risks effectively and selling opportunities to carrier partners to secure competitive interest and terms
  • Establish and maintain strong, productive relationships with the production team to support client strategy and growth objectives
  • Build and sustain effective relationships with carrier partners, serving as a key point of contact for market engagement
  • Act as a subject‑matter resource regarding carrier appetite, underwriting philosophies, pricing practices, coverage trends, and market conditions
  • Participate in carrier meetings and proactively share market intelligence, underwriting feedback, and strategic insights with the production team
  • Prepare and complete comprehensive marketing summaries outlining carrier terms, pricing, commissions, and responses, including documented reasons for declinations
  • Contribute to special projects and additional duties as assigned to support departmental and organizational objectives
