Come join our journey! Panasonic North America is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Risk Manager to join the Panasonic Risk Management Department. This role is ideal for a professional who is passionate about solving real‑world business challenges and thrives in a collaborative, cross‑functional environment. The successful candidate will bring a strong record of achievement along with demonstrated expertise in risk management and insurance. The Risk Manager is responsible for the day‑to‑day administration, operations, and service delivery of Panasonic Corporation of North America’s insurance programs. This position requires the ability to work closely with internal stakeholders across diverse business units while applying strong technical and functional knowledge to manage complex risk and insurance matters. Panasonic Corporation of North America’s Risk Management function oversees insurance programs for more than 50 Panasonic companies, including divisions and subsidiaries located throughout the United States, Canada, and Mexico. The Risk Manager will play a key role in supporting this broad, multinational portfolio and ensuring effective, consistent risk management practices across the organization.

Requirements

  • Minimum of five (7) years of insurance‑ or risk‑management‑related experience and a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, management, business, or a related field.
  • Experience in property, cargo, and construction‑related insurance required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams.
  • Support the Senior Risk Manager and Head of Risk Management through technical research, data analysis, and problem evaluation related to insurance and risk transfer strategies.
  • Demonstrate the ability to think independently, exercise sound judgment, and propose well‑reasoned, practical risk management solutions.
  • Identify emerging and existing risk issues; research and evaluate insurance options using multiple tools and resources; analyze alternatives logically; and recommend appropriate solutions.
  • Operate effectively in a dynamic and multifaceted risk management environment, requiring the ability to manage multiple issues concurrently and respond quickly to changing priorities.
  • Collaborate with a broad range of internal stakeholders, including but not limited to Human Resources, Legal, Finance, Facilities, Construction, and Operations.
  • Engage with external partners and service providers, including outside counsel, claims representatives, insurance brokers, and insurers.
  • Ability to explain complex risk management and insurance concepts in a clear and concise manner and to build and maintain strong, effective working relationships across all levels of the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the day‑to‑day administration, operations, and service delivery of Panasonic North America’s property, cargo, and construction‑related insurance programs.
  • Provide oversight of construction‑related insurance programs, including OCIP, Builder’s Risk, Owner’s Protective Professional Indemnity (OPPI), and Pollution policies, with a primary focus on ensuring appropriate coverage alignment throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Coordinate closely with internal stakeholders, brokers, and insurers to ensure a seamless transition of risk exposures from Builder’s Risk coverage to the operational property insurance program, avoiding any gaps in coverage as construction projects reach completion and are placed into service.
  • Monitor construction project timelines, substantial completion milestones, and occupancy dates to support timely updates to property schedules, values, and coverage terms.
  • Support underwriting submissions and policy administration by ensuring accurate and timely communication of construction‑to‑operations exposure changes.
  • Research, evaluate, and recommend insurance and alternative risk transfer products related to property damage and cargo/transit risks.
  • Support the development and execution of annual insurance renewal strategies, including underwriting submissions, negotiations, and placement for property and cargo policies.
  • Conduct contract reviews (including construction contracts, logistics agreements, leases, customer and vendor agreements) and recommend insurance and risk transfer language to adequately protect the company, requiring a working knowledge of casualty insurance concepts, indemnification provisions, and limitation of liability.
  • Prepare and deliver required reports for the Head of Risk Management, including claims summaries, property and construction exposure reports, and premium analyses.
  • Verify insurance premium charges and allocate costs appropriately to operating companies, business units, and construction projects.
  • Provide risk management and insurance guidance to internal stakeholders, including facilities, construction team, supply chain, procurement, business units and logistics teams.
  • Manage the issuance of certificates of insurance.
  • Learn, maintain, and effectively utilize the Risk Management Information System (RMIS), Origami, to support insurance program administration, exposure tracking, claims data management, and reporting for property and cargo related risks.
  • Annual Budget and Allocation Preparation
  • Monthly Budget/Actual Review and Analysis
  • Perform other necessary support functions for department.
  • Maintain Department Risk Management Information System
  • Research and support claim reporting and settlements.
  • Oversee third party claim administrators.
  • Management and development of claims reporting procedures
  • Prepares necessary reports for Senior Risk Manager and head of Risk Management (Claim Trend Analysis, Expense Analysis, etc.)
  • Reviews and Process Loss Control Reports, providing updates on necessary recommendations to company management.
  • Assist in deciding when Special Loss Control Services (fire protection surveys, industrial hygiene reports) are needed.
  • Analyze Loss Control Results and Plans for Future Trends
