Position Summary The Risk Incident Specialist is responsible for triaging and resolving a high-volume of risk related incidents as reported via the company’s risk management information system. Matters may include general liability, fair housing, property, and other commercial matters as assigned. Incident management activities include timely and accurate incident review and response as reported by RPM property managers. The Risk Incident Specialist will investigate incidents, resolving under standard operating procedures or converting them to claims for escalation as applicable.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in Business, Risk Management, Insurance or related field. Experience may substitute for education.
  • Three years of experience in claims processing, customer service, or property management roles.
  • Knowledge of renter’s insurance, general liability, discrimination, and property events that might warrant an insurance company to be notified of a potential claim.
  • Knowledge of insurance claims processes.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe, risk management information systems (Origami), and property management systems such as Yardi.
  • Ability to handle conflicting requests and competing priorities.
  • Ability to influence and communicate across all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.

Nice To Haves

  • Multifamily or legal experience is a plus.
  • Associate in Claims (AIC) or licensed TX property & casualty adjuster a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Daily review of all incoming risk-related incidents either via the risk department shared e-mail inbox or the company’s risk management information system.
  • Facilitate communication and collaboration between operations, clients, cross-functional departments, and claims managers, to ensure timely response on reported incidents.
  • Effectively collaborate with other departments as needed to gather relevant information and evidence to support initial investigations.
  • Represent RPM Living in a professional manner at all times.
  • Consistently maintains a courteous professional attitude when dealing with residents, coworkers, and the public.
  • Utilize and maintain file documentation in the company’s risk management information system.
  • Analyze incident trends and patterns to identify potential risks or recurring issues; provide reports or recommendations to management for risk mitigation.
  • Ensure all incident documentation complies with internal policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Support the risk team during emergency events or high-severity incidents by coordinating immediate response efforts or communications.
