About The Position

The risk control consultant evaluates our policyholders’ risk control environment from an all-lines perspective. They will conduct on-site surveys, investigate risk exposures and accidents, and analyze risk experience and program needs with accounts. The risk control consultant is also responsible for making recommendations and customizing plans and follow through, to help the policyholder maintain sound risk control programs, processes, and program implementation activities. This position requires strong communication skills including public speaking, and the ability to train and present.

Requirements

  • Two to four years’ experience in the risk control or safety field
  • Bachelor’s Degree in safety, engineering, or related field
  • Ability to travel approximately 40% annually
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Intermediate knowledge of OSHA and NFPA standards
  • Must be able to be on-site for two weeks for training upon hire in our Cheshire, CT office
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate in Risk Management (ARM), Associate in Risk Management (ARM)and/or Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or equivalent, preferred
  • Experience with general liability and property insurance and other insurance coverages and applications, preferred
  • Experience with apartment real estate or public housing operations, preferred

Responsibilities

  • Identifies property and general liability concerns through onsite property inspections or by reviewing third-party inspection reports
  • Communicates, through reports or other means, identified life safety, operational, and property concerns to HAI Group’s Underwriting, Claims, Account Management, and Agency departments
  • Conducts loss analyses to develop and implement loss control programs tailored to the needs of the policyholder
  • Delivers successful presentations and training to audiences at all levels of an organization
  • Collaborates with senior team members and management to creates risk management educational materials, such as articles and templates to be shared with policyholders
  • Is able to walk properties, climb stairwells, and go up and down ladders to inspect building components
