About The Position

POSITION SUMMARY: The Risk Analyst supports Portillo’s Risk Management and insurance programs, by analyzing exposures, managing risk data, and supporting insurance renewals across all lines of coverage. This role will collaborate cross-functionally with Portillo’s leaders, external brokers, and insurance carriers to gather underwriting information, monitor key risk indicators, and enhance enterprise-wide risk visibility. The Risk Analyst maintains accurate documentation to ensure compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements and assists with risk transfer and mitigation efforts, including contract review support, certificate of insurance (COI) management, and participation in site inspections. This is a hybrid position based at the Portillo’s Restaurant Support Center in Oakbrook, Illinois with on-site presence required Tuesday through Thursday. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Risk Management or a related field; or the equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 3 – 7 years of relevant experience in Risk Management, insurance, or brokerage environments
  • Working knowledge of commercial lines insurance programs and risk management/risk mitigation principles
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to evaluate data, identify trends, and surface meaningful insights
  • Detail‑oriented with a high level of accuracy and follow-through
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders at the Manager and Director level
  • Familiarity with regulatory compliance requirements impacting multi-unit operations, including safety, insurance, and risk reporting
  • Experience partnering with insurance brokers, carriers, or third-party vendors to support risk management programs
  • Comfortable working independently while collaborating cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong professional relationships across diverse teams
  • Excellent project management, reporting, and presentation skills
  • Passion for process improvement and continuous enhancement of tools and practices
  • Demonstrated ability to challenge the status quo thoughtfully, and escalate risks or issues when appropriate
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite Products, including Excel and PowerPoint
  • Local travel within the Chicagoland area is expected.
  • Overnight travel is minimal and anticipated to be less than 10%

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting commercial insurance programs in a corporate or multi-unit organization
  • Experience in supporting Environmental Health and Safety or business resiliency programs
  • Experience reviewing contract insurance requirements and coverage provisions
  • Experience working with Risk Management Information Systems (RMIS) and related reporting tools
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite Products, including Power BI, Power Automate, and Microsoft Forms
  • Intellectual curiosity with the ability to think both strategically and tactically
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish
  • Insurance or Risk Management designations/certificates/credentials are preferred (e.g., CRM, ARM, CPCU)
  • Experience supporting multi-unit operations, preferably within the restaurant, hospitality, or retail environments
  • Experience supporting a multi-state employer, with familiarity in Illinois strongly preferred
