CSAA Insurance Group offers an exceptional summer internship for law students transitioning from their first to second year. This 10-week program is designed to immerse interns in both corporate and litigation practices, providing a robust introduction to the legal intricacies of the insurance industry. CSAA Insurance Group is dedicated to fostering a nurturing and dynamic work environment that promotes personal and professional growth. Our internship program is structured to ensure comprehensive exposure to the practical aspects of legal operations within the insurance industry. We offer professional development sessions, networking opportunities with seasoned legal professionals, and a supportive team that values the contribution of each intern. Internship Details: The anticipated dates of our 2026 summer internship will be May 26-July 31. This is a remote position; however, if you live within 60 miles of Walnut Creek, CA, you will be requested to come into that office for meetings. We have additional offices in Sacramento, San Jose, Fresno, Las Vegas, and Phoenix. Interns gather once a week (virtually or in person if possible) to work with our staff counsel. Interns will also meet with the different legal departments to learn about all of the legal opportunities in a corporation during the first month of the internship. Our legal departments include: Claims Law, Corporate Compliance & Employment, Regulatory & Corporate Affairs, Commercial Transactions, Government Affairs, Subrogation, and Extracontractual Coverage. Each intern will be assigned an attorney mentor through the program. The anticipated hourly rate for this role is $29.00.

Requirements

  • Rising 2L law school students (students who have completed their 1L year and will be entering their 2L year in the fall).
  • Demonstrates exceptional attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Possesses excellent legal drafting abilities and a keen interest in litigation, corporate law, and/or insurance law.
  • Available to work full-time throughout the duration of the summer program.
  • Must have authorization to work indefinitely in the US.
  • A detailed cover letter expressing your interest in the internship and highlighting your relevant skills and experiences.
  • A current resume outlining your academic and professional background.
  • A legal writing sample that showcases your ability to analyze and articulate complex legal issues.
  • Unofficial transcripts as proof of your academic achievements.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive legal research on issues pertinent to the insurance sector.
  • Assist in the drafting and revision of legal documents, contributing to the team's efforts to support CSAA's legal framework.
  • Keep abreast of legislative changes that could impact the company, preparing summaries and updates for the legal team.
  • Participate in weekly staff counsel meetings to discuss ongoing cases and new legal developments.
