Position Summary: Develops, creates, and executes shock tuning efforts in the field across numerous vehicle types and shock technologies. Works with design group, project leaders, and test to assist problem solving of new technologies and applications in a matrixed organization.

Requirements

  • Ability to subjectively evaluate passenger vehicles dynamically and make educated tuning decisions on vehicle setup to achieve project target goals
  • Ability to perform extensive hands-on work by rebuilding shock absorbers, operating shock dyno's, driving vehicles both on and off road
  • Detailed on road subjective evaluation skills.
  • Off road driving/vehicle recovery skills
  • Ability to manage testing events with external customers
  • Proficient PC skills required: Excel, Word, Powerpoint, 3D Modeling (Preferred)
  • Ability to use Matlab, VB, or any other programming language that would benefit data processing and analysis
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • 5+ years of vehicle dynamics engineering experience
  • Automotive field shock absorber tuning experience
  • On vehicle data acquisition and general wiring/electronics experience preferred
  • Manual lathe, mill, welding, fabrication experience preferred
  • Excel and basic CAD experience
  • Off road driving and vehicle recovery experience
  • Driving motor vehicles is required for this position along with having an acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Manage field tuning exercises and ride performance of various Fox applications spanning from internal aftermarket applications to OE testing with external customers.
  • Manage external relationships and projects with large OE customers.
  • Utilize and improve on vehicle data acquisition methods to assist in dynamic vehicle tuning.
  • Calculate and setup theoretical vehicle starting specifications (springs, damping curves, etc.) for various vehicle use cases.
  • Drive a wide range of vehicles on and off road safely and consistently
  • Operate shock dyno's and interpret characterization data to assist with vehicle tuning practices
  • Rebuild a wide range of Fox shocks
