About The Position

Position Summary The Supply Chain Planning and Operations Support role is responsible for planning, organizing, and overseeing supply chain operations within planning, scheduling, and procurement to optimize the utilization of HCF's equipment, materials, and workforce while delivering maximum customer satisfaction. This role works collaboratively with regional and global supply chain teams, Product Line Management (PLM), production, quality, technology, and plant management to ensure high levels of service and cash flow performance. The incumbent will participate in monthly plant and regional Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) partnership meetings with divisional planning teams to establish alignment and resolve capacity constraints to support dynamic demand. Additionally, the position will develop and recommend inventory management strategies and implement lean tools to enhance efficiency and drive operational improvements. The role will involve varying levels of project work and participation in cross-functional teams both within the plant and across Corning. This includes enhancing manufacturing efficiency, supply chain operations, and customer service performance. The position will also act as a departmental representative for projects related to Manufacturing Execution Systems (CoMET) and Enterprise Resource Planning (SAP).

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • 1 year Supervisory experience
  • Strong project management capabilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Solid problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to prioritize, manage multiple tasks, and balance day-to-day responsibilities with long-term projects.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to interact effectively across functions (engineering, supply chain, etc.) and organizational levels.
  • Self-motivated with a positive attitude and strong work ethic.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Access.
  • Ability to work independently in a dynamic manufacturing environment.
  • Strong analytical skills to translate customer needs into actionable deliverables.

Nice To Haves

  • 2-5 years of experience in supply chain management; degree in supply chain or APICS certification preferred.
  • Training or certification in Lean and/or Six Sigma methodologies (Green Belt certification preferred).
  • Prior supervisory experience.
  • Knowledge of cable products, materials, and manufacturing processes.
  • Familiarity with Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems; SAP experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to champion change and foster adaptability.

Responsibilities

  • Manage production planning and scheduling processes, including order management, resource planning, production forecasting, and Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) operations.
  • Ensure achievement of delivery metrics, such as On-Time Performance (OTP), Order Cycle Time, and manufacturing commitments.
  • Collaborate with customer service and Product Line Management teams to align manufacturing plans with customer expectations and Available-to-Promise (ATP) levels.
  • Supervise production control activities and act as the primary liaison between operations, engineering, and quality teams.
  • Drive continuous improvements using lean and Six Sigma tools (e.g., Value Stream Mapping, Kaizen, DMAIC).
  • Serve as a business resource for Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.
  • Oversee new product implementation processes and analyze capacity, inventory, and delivery performance as part of extended product teams.
  • Develop and lead department personnel, including performance appraisals, feedback, and career development plans.
  • Generate reports and analyses to enhance planning and manufacturing operations.
