Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry. This segment is classified into two main product groupings - carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use. Role Purpose The Ribbon Cable PLM team is growing so that we can execute with better focus on our unprecedented demand growth. The primary purpose of this Product Line Manager role is to initially build and then lead the Central Stack Ribbon Cable product team through a period of growth and transformation, while specifically owning the P&L performance, product strategy, and product lifecycle management of the product line. The Central Stack Ribbon Cable portfolio will consist of generally lower fiber count (<432F) ribbon cables that primarily serve the Carrier Access market, although a growing share of the volume supports Datacenter applications. Major challenges and opportunities include: Determine how to best utilize next-gen fiber and flexible ribbon technologies developed for datacenter applications in the Carrier market, develop the necessary cables, and build the go-to-market strategy for converting the Carriers Deploy capacity needed to meet the market demand Drive conversion, both internally and externally, of legacy products to newer offerings Execute aggressive cost reduction and process improvements in manufacturing Integrate OSP and FR cables into a single product line, where they previously resided in two separate teams The Central Stack Ribbon Cable product team will consist of core functional leads from PLM, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Product Development, Engineering, and Market & Tech Development. The PLM is the leader of the product team. This team is empowered and expected to be the primary decision maker for all matters related to their products. The PLM will have at least one direct report, but it is necessary to be able to influence and lead through others on the product team and beyond to achieve objectives.
