The RFP Financial Consultant is a strategic and pivotal role that partners with account teams to drive impactful marketing strategies across employer health benefit lines. This position combines strong financial/analytical expertise with consultative leadership to help teams deliver compelling, data-driven recommendations across the full spectrum of employer health benefit lines. The role will also shape and grow a centralized marketing team while leading complex RFPs and negotiations in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Risk Management, Insurance, Actuary, Mathematics and/or other related field
  • Intermediate working knowledge of MS Excel (ability to perform pivot tables, macros, and intermediate formulas)
  • Effective analytical, math and problem solving skills, sound judgment, strong decision making ability, confidence to make difficult decisions and excellent communication skills
  • Must be organized, detail oriented and able to translate big picture ideas into client objectives

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of 5 year’s experience in the Benefits Brokerage, Consulting, or Insurance industry with an emphasis on employer health benefits

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for clients’ benefits marketing process, including: data acquisition, request for proposal (RFP) preparation, vendor question resolution, proposal review and analysis, negotiation with carriers, and client exhibit and presentation preparation
  • Tracking and documentation of RFP process from drafting RFP to final decision confirmation
  • Validate renewals and proposals for accuracy
  • Use specified technology platform(s) to release RFPs and receive/analyze proposals
  • Maintain quality service standards and organization to assure timely service to MMA team
  • Research and remain abreast of the dynamic, competitive insurance environment, new and complex insurance projects, appropriate underwriting techniques and constantly changing legislation that governs business
  • Define and implement systems, workflows, standards and best practices that support the establishment and growth of the centralized marketing team
  • Develop/Acquire RFP expertise for all employer health lines of coverage within the centralized marketing team
  • Mentor and coach team members through hands-on guidance, onboarding support, and regular feedback to build RFP skills
  • Plan and implement a mid-to-long term strategy to improve the utilization of the unit across all business practices and lines of coverage
  • Contribute to monitoring marketing team deliverables, resource utilization and capacity modeling
  • Participate in special underwriting and operations projects as needed
