About The Position

F3EA is seeking an RF Systems Engineer to support the design, integration, testing, and evaluation of Blue Water Instrumentation (BWI) capabilities at the Point Mugu Sea Range. This role directly supports closing critical gaps in Over-the-Horizon maritime instrumentation, telemetry relay systems, command-and-control experimentation, and range safety support. The RF Systems Engineer will work across the full lifecycle of RF-enabled systems—from design and integration through test and field validation—in a hands-on R&D environment. This position requires an engineer who can translate RF theory into reliable, fielded capability within complex and dynamic maritime test environments. This position is designed for an engineer who can bridge RF system design with real-world application, ensuring that RF-enabled capabilities are effectively integrated, tested, and operationally relevant. Success in this role requires both technical competence and the ability to execute within fast-paced, mission-driven environments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or related discipline
  • 10 years of experience in RF systems, electronics engineering, or related field
  • Experience with RF system design, integration, and testing
  • Understanding of wireless communications, telemetry systems, and RF propagation principles
  • Experience performing basic RF analysis and link budget calculations
  • Familiarity with RF test equipment (spectrum analyzers, signal generators, network analyzers)
  • Ability to work in lab and field environments, including maritime conditions
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills
  • U.S. citizenship required
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance (Secret or higher)

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting DoD test ranges, RDT&E programs, or instrumentation systems
  • Background in maritime RF environments or Over-the-Horizon communications
  • Experience with antenna systems and RF front-end design
  • Familiarity with software-defined radios (SDRs) and modern communication systems
  • Experience with modeling and simulation tools (MATLAB, Simulink, HFSS, CST, or similar)
  • Knowledge of electronic warfare (EW) or contested spectrum environments
  • Experience supporting test and evaluation (T&E) events
  • Prior military or defense contractor experience

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop RF and electronic systems supporting instrumentation, telemetry, and communications capabilities
  • Support integration of RF subsystems, including radios, antennas, amplifiers, receivers, and signal processing components
  • Perform RF analysis, including link budgets, propagation modeling, interference analysis, and spectrum utilization
  • Assist in development of system architectures for RF-enabled test and instrumentation systems
  • Integrate RF systems with electrical, mechanical, network, and software components within prototype environments
  • Support test planning, execution, and post-test analysis, including RF performance validation
  • Conduct bench testing and field testing of RF systems and instrumentation
  • Troubleshoot RF and electronic system issues during lab and field operations
  • Support installation, integration, and checkout (I&I) of RF systems on testbeds, platforms, and range infrastructure
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including schematics, test procedures, and reports
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and government stakeholders to align systems with mission requirements
  • Ensure compliance with spectrum management, safety, and regulatory requirements
