About The Position

This engineering technologist position will report to the manager of RF solutions, primarily supporting the Tactical Solutions business unit of BAE Systems SMS and will have Radio Frequency (RF) engineering as its area of specialization with antenna gain and radar cross section (RCS) measurements, data processing, and analysis as the focus. The Engineering, Science, and Analysis (ESA) Strategic Capabilities Unit comprises the technical talent and organizational leadership that enables the successful delivery of high impact discriminating technologies for our customers’ missions. What You’ll Do: Work in parallel with antenna design engineers, range engineers, technicians, and all other supporting staff to measure and characterize individual antennas and phased array antennas within the development programs. Use acquisition software to acquire antenna gain / RCS data in world class RF anechoic chambers Participate and guide the testing of RF hardware for required performance metrics: VSWR, insertion loss, gain, polarization, RCS, etc. Use cutting edge software packages to analyze antenna data at multiple levels of processing in 5 dimensions (azimuth, elevation, zeta, and frequency, test dates) Write customizable software with variable inputs to automate antenna gain and RCS measurement data analysis in real-time to determine the health of the development antennas. Create, update and maintain development program test procedures, techniques, tools, materials, and/or equipment to meet special needs. Work with RF Engineers to develop technical solutions to problems that require the regular use of ingenuity and creativity. Assist with preparation and delivery of presentations Interface with people at all levels including customers Maintain ability to work a flexible schedule as test events can happened over all 3 shifts, 5 days a week Perform other duties as necessary

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a relevant degree plus 4 or more years related experience.
  • Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master’s Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
  • Competency and demonstrated success in core RF antenna and RF electronics skills.
  • RF antenna testing experience utilizing network analyzers, PNAs, RADARs, anechoic chambers, near-field ranges, etc.
  • Experience and proficiency in programming, data manipulation, and data visualization in MATLAB and Python or other programming language.
  • Ability to execute measurements at internal and external facilities and perform measurement analysis and troubleshooting
  • Solid communication skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • A current secret clearance is required. Access to Polygraph is not required to be eligible for this position. However, the applicant must be willing and eligible for submission, depending on program requirements, after an offer is accepted and must be able to maintain the applicable clearance/access

  • Experience with creating MATLAB GUIs
  • Experience with Range Uncertainty and sources of error
  • Extensive RF Range troubleshooting experience
