Position Overview The Lead Electronics Repair Technician (Rework Lead) is a hands-on leadership role responsible for supporting and guiding daily electronics repair operations. This position combines advanced board-level repair, component-level troubleshooting, and schematic interpretation with day-to-day team leadership. This role is ideal for a highly skilled technician who leads by example, helps prioritize workflow, mentors team members, and ensures consistent repair quality and production throughput.

Requirements

High School Diploma (Associate degree preferred)
3+ years of electronics repair or electronics manufacturing experience
Strong soldering and rework skills (SMT and through-hole)
Proven ability to troubleshoot to the component level
Ability to read and interpret electronic schematics and technical documentation
Basic leadership or mentoring experience
Strong documentation and communication skills
Experience using rework stations, hot air systems, microscopes, and working with fine-pitch components
Proficiency with test equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, and power supplies
Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
Ability to sit for extended periods (up to 8 hours per day)
Ability to walk throughout the facility as needed
Ability to lift up to 40 lbs

Nice To Haves

IPC certification or prior IPC standards experience
Experience in a production-driven or high-mix repair environment

Responsibilities

Perform board-level repairs on electronic assemblies using advanced soldering and rework techniques (SMT, through-hole, fine-pitch, connectors, etc.)
Troubleshoot electronic assemblies to the component and circuit level using schematics, documentation, and diagnostic equipment
Read and interpret schematics, BOMs, and work instructions to diagnose failures and implement corrective repairs
Verify completed repairs through functional testing and detailed visual inspection
Provide daily technical guidance and support to repair technicians
Assist in prioritizing repair workload to meet production schedules and quality targets
Train and mentor technicians on proper soldering techniques, ESD handling, and workmanship standards
Document repair activities, failure modes, and corrective actions accurately
Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, and Production teams to resolve recurring issues
Maintain a clean, safe, and ESD-compliant work environment
