We’re hiring a Senior Manager, Global Equity & Reward to lead clients through the full lifecycle of equity compensation—combining deep global tax expertise with strategic plan design and implementation. Our team is truly global. Our core team of professionals is based in the US, UK, and Australia, operating as a hub model. The team is led by Partners in the UK, Spain, and Australia, and we staff projects based on capability and client need—not geography. As a corporate (non-partnership) structure, we’ve eliminated the revenue silos that often hinder cross-border collaboration, so we work as one integrated team. Where deep country technical detail is required, we leverage in-country experts in 70+ jurisdictions to deliver precise, practical guidance. You’ll serve as a trusted advisor to stakeholders in Total Rewards/Compensation, Global Mobility, Payroll, Tax, and Finance, while mentoring a high-performing team and driving market‑leading client outcomes.

Requirements

  • 10+ years in global equity compensation and international tax focused on share plans and/or globally mobile employees.
  • Tax consulting background (e.g., Big 4, law firm, or boutique advisory) with demonstrable client advisory experience.
  • Professional credential required: CEP (Certified Equity Professional), or CPA/CA/EA, LLM (Tax) (or equivalent professional credential/experience).
  • Expertise in: Global taxation of equity awards and related payroll/reporting obligations.
  • Mobility taxation for LTI awards across taxing borders (countries, states, and other jurisdictions), including sourcing, treaties, social security, and shadow payroll.
  • Global payroll coordination and year‑end reporting for equity.
  • Proven experience designing, launching, and administering global share plans and managing multi‑country rollouts.
  • Proficiency with equity administration platforms and cross‑functional integrations (HRIS, Payroll, Finance).
  • Strong communication, stakeholder management, and project leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated people leadership: training, coaching, quality review, and team development.

Nice To Haves

  • Working knowledge of IFRS 2/ASC 718 and concepts such as recharges/transfer pricing to identify when specialist involvement is required.
  • Awareness of securities and exchange control regimes to flag when legal advice may be needed (no legal work performed).
  • Advanced Excel and reporting/visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).

Responsibilities

  • Provide expert guidance on the tax treatment of long-term incentive (LTI) awards—including RSUs, qualified and non‑qualified stock options, performance shares, employee share purchase plans, SARs, and cash/phantom plans—across grant, vest, exercise, sale, and dividend equivalents.
  • Advise on mobility taxation for LTI awards whenever employees cross taxing borders—including between countries, states, or other jurisdictions—covering sourcing/apportionment of gains, double tax relief, treaty analysis, social security/totalization, and shadow payroll.
  • Design and review withholding, reporting, and year‑end processes with the client’s relevant teams to ensure compliance across all jurisdictions.
  • Manage election considerations globally (i.e., tax elections applicable in multiple countries) and ensure processes align with local and international requirements.
  • Use knowledge of corporate tax and accounting implications (e.g., deductibility, recharges, transfer pricing, IFRS 2/ASC 718) to flag potential issues and advise when to involve specialist teams—without performing legal, accounting, or corporate tax work.
  • Partner with senior stakeholders to design equity strategies that drive attraction, retention, performance, and ownership—balancing market competitiveness, cost, and compliance.
  • Lead plan architecture (vehicle mix, eligibility, grant sizing, performance metrics, vesting, post vest/exercise holding, malus/clawback, change‑in‑control, leaver provisions).
  • Drive implementation: policy and SOPs, multi-country rollouts, employee communications‑ and education, and change management.
  • Help clients use equity administration platforms effectively to process awards and optimize workflows, leveraging your knowledge of platform capabilities and best practices.
  • Leverage technology solutions—including implementing and rolling out Vialto Comp—to support accurate payroll withholding and reporting at the taxable events of stock transactions, and to improve compliance and efficiency across jurisdictions.
  • Ensure payroll compliance for equity related withholding and reporting obligations across multiple jurisdictions‑.
  • Oversee year‑end equity reporting processes globally, including coordination of required filings and supporting documentation.
  • Establish governance, controls, and risk frameworks (aligned with client requirements), including calendars for compliance activities and periodic health checks/remediation.
  • Maintain country summaries, approval matrices, and auditable documentation to support compliance and risk management.
  • Serve as engagement lead for a portfolio of multinational clients—owning scope, quality, timelines, and budgets.
  • Translate complex technical topics into clear, actionable guidance for stakeholders at all levels—from HR, Payroll, and Mobility teams to senior leadership and Compensation Committees.
  • Develop materials and recommendations tailored to diverse audiences to ensure understanding and alignment across the organization.
  • Train, coach, and mentor junior team members, providing technical guidance, feedback, and support for professional development.
  • Review work for quality and accuracy, fostering a collaborative, inclusive team culture.
  • Support business development through solutioning, proposals, and thought leadership.
  • Support the development of dashboards and metrics for participation, tax exposure, and mobility impacts, partnering with client teams to track adoption and compliance KPIs.
  • Provide benchmarking and market perspective on award usage, trends, and governance practices.
