Job Summary The Revenue Specialist updates patient benefit information into the agency management information system by entering data accurately. They verify patient insurance coverage with insurance companies both online and by phone. This position is a resource to patients, providing them with information regarding their insurance coverage, and working with patients to explain what their policy does and does not cover, and arranging for different financing options when necessary. This position will also provide billing services for special contracts for DAP Health, such as research grants and drug medical. The Revenue Specialist assists in the application for electronic and paper billing with the various insurance payors. Supervisory Responsibilities: None

Requirements

  • Understand and maintain confidentiality in accordance with Agency policies
  • Ability to work accurately and with minimal supervision
  • Ensure data and research are completed in a timely and procedurally correct manner
  • Ability and willingness to work with diverse populations
  • Willingness to work evenings, weekends and on an emergency basis
  • Ensure compliance with policies and procedures related to safe work practices
  • Prior office experience in a behavioral health setting
  • Knowledge of EHR functionality
  • Knowledge of California Medicaid and Medicare insurance verification process for primary care, chiropractic and behavioral health services
  • Working knowledge/familiarity with computers and electronic clinical record keeping
  • Knowledge of Medical Terminology and familiar with insurance billing procedures
  • This position is fully remote
  • This job operates in a home setting and requires frequent times of sitting, standing, repetitive motion and talking
  • Ability to lift up to 24 pounds and move from place to place

Responsibilities

  • Input member insurance and benefit data in EHR
  • Verify insurance, Medicare, and private pay, etc., prior to each visit
  • Document and log expected patient payment in EHR for PSRs prior to patient check in
  • Scan documents as needed into EHR or DAP Health files
  • Verify Medi-Cal and Drug Medi-Cal enrollments and eligibility
  • Maintain insurance websites for DAP Health eligibility
  • Assist patients with insurance coverage questions
  • Maintain a positive working relationship with third party billing (OBS and Trizetto), and insurance payors and funding sources
  • Prepare research study invoices and confirm in EHR
  • Finalize and submit Drug Medi-Cal billing
  • Complete Epic Work queues as assigned
  • Perform other duties as assigned
