About The Position

Lutheran Social Services of Wisconsin & Upper Michigan (LSS) is seeking a Revenue Cycle Specialist – Billing to join our Financial Services team. This role plays a critical part in ensuring accurate, timely claim submission and compliance across multiple funding sources while supporting our mission‑driven programs.

Requirements

High School Diploma required; Associate’s degree or higher in accounting or related field preferred
Minimum of 1 year of healthcare or behavioral health billing experience required
Working knowledge of ICD coding, EOBs, and electronic billing processes
Experience with EHR and medical billing software
Strong attention to detail, analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
Ability to work independently, manage multiple deadlines, and collaborate across teams

Responsibilities

Prepare, review, and submit claims to Medicaid, Medicare, commercial insurance, county/state funding, grants, and self‑pay payers
Investigate and correct claim rejections related to eligibility, demographics, and coding
Verify insurance coverage and update eligibility and authorizations as needed
Maintain accurate billing records, generate statements, and document claim activity in the EHR system
Collaborate with program staff, QA, and AR Follow‑Up to resolve billing issues and denial trends
Review unbilled and authorization reports to identify and resolve billing delays
Assist with month‑end close and support financial audits
Ensure compliance with HIPAA, payer guidelines, and organizational policies
