About The Position

As a Revenue Manager, you will play a crucial role in the efficient functioning of our organization by assisting with overseeing and managing data related to contractual agreements. Your primary responsibility will be to maintain the accuracy and completeness of revenue and expenditure contract data within the organization’s financial management system and grant management system. You will work closely with various departments, vendors, and clients to facilitate overall contract maintenance. The ideal candidate for this position is a team player with strong analytical skills and an exceptional work ethic. The person working in this role will be able to manage timelines, accomplish a variety of tasks, and will have excellent Microsoft Office skills, particularly using Excel. The Revenue Manager position will report to the CFO and will work closely with the Controller, legal department and interact with all levels of the organization. The Revenue Manager is a leadership role responsible for  the financial administration of revenue and expense contracts across the organization. This position ensures the integrity of financial reporting, compliance with applicable accounting standards and regulations, and effective governance over contract-related financial activity. The role serves as a key partner to Finance leadership, Legal, Program, and Operations teams, providing oversight, analysis, and execution to ensure that contractual obligations, funding sources, and financial transactions are accurately recorded, monitored, and reported in a timely manner. The candidate should have a strong understanding of appropriate policies and internal controls and be able identify areas for improvement where needed and ensure overall compliance with internal and external policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field preferred. Equivalent education or experience to be considered.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in accounting, finance, or financial operations.
  • Demonstrated experience managing accounting functions and financial aspects of contracts.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial controls.
  • Experience working with audits and regulatory or compliance-driven environments.
  • Proven ability to operate independently and exercise sound judgment in a senior role.
  • Experience with general ledger and subledger systems implementations required.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail;
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Ability to analyze financial data
  • Strong computer skills, including Excel and accounting systems;
  • Experience working with general ledger functions, and month / year end close process;
  • Knowledge of finance, accounting, and budgeting principles, including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles(GAAP) and Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB);
  • Desire to work in a dynamic and mission-driven environment;

Nice To Haves

  • CPA,MBA or equivalent professional certification.
  • Experience in public sector, quasi-public, nonprofit, or highly regulated organizations.
  • Experience with grant accounting, restricted funds, or complex funding structures.
  • Prior people management experience.
  • Experience working in Microsoft Business Central and Fluxx are a plus.
  • Experience working in state and local government or non-profit / public sector entities is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and oversight for all aspects of revenue functions, including general ledger, month-end and year-end close, reconciliations, collections ,and financial reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards (e.g., GAAP) and internal financial policies and controls.
  • Oversee revenue recognition and expense accounting related to contractual activity.
  • Support internal and external audits by preparing schedules, documentation, and responses related to accounting and contract activity.
  • Collaborate with the Controller and CFO on financial reporting, close processes, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Oversee the financial administration of all revenue and expense contracts, including grants, vendor agreements, and service contracts.
  • Oversee revenue contracting in progress and identified funding opportunities for organizational reporting and tracking.
  • Ensure contract terms are properly reflected in financial systems, including funding sources, payment schedules, restrictions, and compliance requirements.
  • Monitor contract expenditures and revenues against approved budgets and funding limits.
  • Partner with Legal and Program teams to review financial terms of contracts and assess accounting and compliance implications.
  • Ensure timely and accurate billing, invoicing, and payment processing related to contractual obligations.
  • Prepare and process journal entries related to contract information when necessary.
  • Reconcile contract revenues and expenditures and resolve any discrepancies.
  • Prepare reporting for organizational departments to review their contract information.
  • Prepare reporting to be shared with organizational leadership detailing contracting progress against awards, revenue and expenditure budgets.
  • Maintain strong internal controls over contract-related financial activity to mitigate risk and ensure compliance.
  • Ensure restricted funds, grant requirements, and funding conditions are properly tracked and reported.
  • Develop and maintain policies, procedures, and documentation related to accounting and contract management.
  • Identify process gaps, risks, and inefficiencies, and implement improvements as needed.
  • Provide direction, mentorship, and performance management for staff supporting accounting and contract functions.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for accounting and contract-related financial matters across the organization.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with senior leadership, auditors, and external stakeholders.
  • Support cross-functional initiatives requiring financial, contractual, or compliance expertise.
  • Support CFO and Controller on any special ad hoc projects.
