What you will be doing in this role: The Revenue Cycle Quality Improvement (QI) Trainer develops and provides educational material/programming, facilitates the collection and analysis of training specific feedback, and mentors team members to ensure ongoing growth and development goals (personal and company) are achieved. The work effort is driven by ongoing revenue cycle operational needs and initiatives. In the development of a comprehensive curriculum, the Revenue Cycle QI Trainer addresses Cedars-Sinai Revenue Cycle system updates/upgrades, changes in workflow, leadership recommendations for improvement, workflow changes to address compliance needs, performance/quality improvement initiatives and ongoing training and development support necessary as defined on an ad hoc basis outlined by the Revenue Cycle Support Services Director. Revenue Cycle QI Trainer ensures workflow is understood through training and job aide availability, staff performance expectations can be adhered to post training, and works with to support workflow expectations to support optimal job performance. Facilitates and delivers technical training; assessment, preparation, delivery and evaluation to meet the operational & technical training needs of the revenue cycle. Actively participates as a subject matter expert (SME) in projects, and maintains meaningful relationships with business partners, Enterprise Information Services (EIS), leadership, system users and vendors. Uses understanding of the Electronic Health Record (EHR – CS-Link/Epic) in detail in order to competently develop training curriculum and facilitate training delivery Analyzes integrated workflow, application dependencies, and user competencies through collaboration with end users, SME, and application analysts to determine learning objectives. Designs and maintains role-based training materials and scenarios, crossing CS-Link/Epic modules and other applications, to incorporate best practices based upon adult learning principles. Translates complex and integrated technical functionality and workflow into easily understood steps. Validates information prior to incorporating into curricula. Devises modes of assessment to measure the effectiveness of the course and actively incorporates feedback to improve the training offered, based on feedback received. Facilitates technical training while monitoring and adjusting the approach as necessary to ensure maximum transfer and retention of knowledge among a variety of audiences. Contributes to the planning, design, development, build, and maintenance of the patient scenarios in the training environment, especially related to integrated areas. Incorporates best practices and the latest tools from CS-Link/ Epic. Assists with training environment testing. Applies project management principles to support the creation of project tasks, including recommendations of tasks, work estimates, and assignments. Serves as an EIS liaison for basic and complex functionality questions for implementations and upgrades with a range of customers including business operations, system users and vendors. Designs, maintains and updates documentation of processes and procedures for Epic training curricula, authoring tools and application best practices. Takes ownership of personal growth and acts upon this opportunity to stay informed of emerging technologies.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • A minimum of 3 years in a supervisory, training or teaching role required.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in a revenue cycle application specific to department: Patient Services, Patient Revenue Management- Hospital Billing and Patient Revenue Management- Professional Billing preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, healthcare, health science, public health or education/training or another related field preferred.
  • Certified Healthcare Access Associate (CHAA) preferred.
  • EPIC certification in Admission, Discharge, Transfer (ADT), Hospital Billing (HB) Resolute and/ or Physician Billing (PB) Resolute, preferred.
