OUC - The Reliable One Electric & Water Distribution division , is presently seeking a Revenue Assurance Field Investigator to join their team. We are seeking a highly skilled and self-motivated investigator to protect company assets and safeguard revenue integrity. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, technologically proficient, and comfortable working both in the field and in collaboration with cross-functional teams. In this role, you will conduct audits, complete field inspections, and investigations into suspected utility theft, tampering, and equipment malfunctions. The ideal candidate will have: High School Diploma or GED (required) Vocational/technical Certificate in electrical or related field (preferred) Minimum three (3) years of experience with installing, troubleshooting (performing the function of a Service Order Technician or Electric Line/Trouble Technician or related jobs), and removal of electric meters (required) Utility (Electric) construction, maintenance, installation experience (required) Valid Florida Driver's license to operate company vehicle (required) Complete an ARC Flash Training Class within 6 months of being hired (required) Salary Range: $27.15 - $33.94/hour (Equal to approximately $56,500.00 - $70,600.00 annually) Location: 5997 Pershing Ave, Orlando, FL 32822 USA Please see below a complete Job description for this position. Job Purpose: Conducts audits, field inspections, field investigations of suspected theft or reported activities related to utility tampering and malfunctions. Represents the company in civil and criminal matters aimed at identifying and stopping meter-to-cash revenue losses. Coordinates activities with various internal work groups and proactively interacts with outside agencies including law enforcement to secure company property and revenue and to meet department objectives. Operates equipment at elevated heights and on energized systems up to 600 volts (secondary voltage).

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED (required)
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience with installing, troubleshooting (performing the function of a Service Order Technician or Electric Line/Trouble Technician or related jobs), and removal of electric meters (required)
  • Utility (Electric) construction, maintenance, installation experience (required)
  • Valid Florida Driver's license to operate company vehicle (required)
  • Complete an ARC Flash Training Class within 6 months of being hired (required)
  • Working knowledge in all, but not limited to the following: Basic Electric and Water metering concepts; Law and government relative to the position including, but not limited to, state statutes regarding utility theft/tampering, criminal and civil aspects, depositions, etc.; Safe operation of a company vehicle in the performance of field duties
  • Familiarity with all, but not limited to the following: Transformer-rated meter installations; CIS and MobLite applications in the performance of duties; Operation of laptop equipment in the performance of field duties; Basic analytical processing of AMI meter data and usage profiles to determine proper course of action; Thorough documentation of field findings into electronic format; Flow charts/diagrams and operational manuals/procedures relative Section operations; Use of thermal camera, conduit camera, amp-probe and other equipment utilized to identify illegal connections to electric distribution/service; Various hand tools and testing equipment necessary for the safe operation, installation and removal of metering equipment; Related industry, organizational and departmental policies, practices, and procedures; legal guidelines, ordinances, and laws; Safely work with electric meters, jumpers that may need to be removed or replaced; Safely work on de-energized facilities and operates energized secondary conductors (under 600 volts); Follow safety procedures and work outdoors in all types of weather conditions; Make sound judgments under stress, analyze situations quickly and determine proper course of action; Obtain accurate information through interview and observation; Effective communication skills, both verbal and written with internal and external persons to accomplish business objectives; Learn complex meter installations and basic AMI functionality; Ability to make arithmetic computations using whole numbers, fractions and decimals, rates, ratios and percentages; Ability to use Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) and standard office equipment (telephone, computer, copier, etc.)

Responsibilities

  • Independently conduct field investigations for utility theft, tampering, photograph and secure evidence related to the investigations; thoroughly document findings per business and legal standards, and obtain statements from occupants/witnesses as needed
  • Maintain custody and integrity of evidence, and represent the company in litigation, depositions, etc. as an expert witness in a professional manner
  • Identify wiring errors or malfunctioning equipment, remove and/or exchange meters/jumpers, process work in Customer Information System (CIS) and MobLite applications
  • Initiate and conduct site audits by analyzing various reports and customer records and determine type of action to be taken
  • Utilize secondary service conductor tester and thermal camera to effectively identify failing secondary connections associated with AMI meter event logs
  • Develop and maintain productive working relationships with various law and code enforcement agencies that will facilitate and expedite the disposition of revenue recovery and civil/criminal complaints
  • Conduct or assist in the training of employees and other external parties on the awareness of utility theft and tampering
  • Utilize analytics and leverage technology to detect patterns of fraudulent activities
  • Support process improvements to ensure safe and secure operations of equipment to minimize failures and tampering
  • Perform other duties as assigned
