About The Position

The Railroad Revenue Analyst programs and administers commercial contracts and rate authorities; ensures accurate, timely, and compliant invoicing; resolves rating and billing exceptions; and partners cross-functionally to protect revenue and uphold data quality and adherence to company/industry standards. The role owns the end-to-end revenue application lifecycle—contract setup, pricing and rating, invoice delivery, dispute resolution, data quality oversight, and continuous automation—across assigned railroads, customers, and lanes. The Analyst also provides analytical support to the Sales and Operations Team through targeted analysis and ad-hoc reporting. Success is measured by accuracy, timeliness, automation, data integrity and standards adherence, and improvements in dispute cycle time.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or 3+ years of experience in railroad/transportation revenue, pricing, billing, or contract administration.
  • Strong commitment to data accuracy, integrity, and adherence—demonstrated experience ensuring contract, rate, waybill, and revenue data are complete, consistent, and aligned with company and industry standards.
  • Proven ability to identify data errors, trace root causes, and implement preventative solutions to improve long-term data quality.
  • Experience translating commercial contracts into accurate rate programming with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Excel (vlookup/index-match, pivot tables, Power Query) and familiarity with BI tools for data validation and analysis.
  • Working knowledge of railroad concepts: tariffs, waybills, interchange, accessorials, and revenue application.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret rules, investigate exceptions, and communicate clearly.
  • Proven ability to work independently and take initiative to complete daily tasks, project work and ad hoc requests.

Nice To Haves

  • Additional specific experience in Railroad or Logistics Revenue management total 5+ years.
  • Familiarity with AAR Accounting Rules and ASC 606.

  • Advanced Excel skills and data management oversight.
  • Experience with continuous improvement, automation, or data governance initiatives.

  • Partner with Class I railroads, shippers, and internal teams to resolve data integrity issues (e.g., interchange errors, routing discrepancies, missing data elements).
  • Maintain strict adherence to data governance rules, ensuring all data inputs and updates follow company and industry standards.
  • Contract Lifecycle & Renewal
  • Prepare contract renewals and change orders; collaborate with Commercial on pricing strategy and deal structuring.
  • Maintain clear and current desktop procedures for contract and revenue setup workflows.
