About The Position

Google accountants are a savvy bunch who handle the core accounting responsibilities at Google. You know your accounting principles and the full accounting process end to end. You'll advise on financial reports required by governmental regulations, and review, analyze, and interpret financial and budgetary reports. As a member of the Cloud Strategic Deals Accounting team, you will lead the assessment and accounting for arrangements for the offerings and initiatives within Cloud. You will be a team-oriented accountant, contributing to a growth environment. In this role, you will be an integral part of the financial reporting process and have the opportunity to work with cross-functional teams. You will be part of the Cloud Controllership team and will coordinate across all financial reporting matters, with a focus on business growth and Remaining Performance Obligation disclosures. And nobody at Google loves big numbers like the Finance team when providing in depth analysis on all manner of strategic decisions across Google products. From developing forward-thinking analysis to generating management reports to scaling our automated financial processes, the Finance organization is an important partner and advisor to the business.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 4 years of experience in accounting or a related function, or 1 year with an advanced degree in accounting, business, or finance.
  • Experience in Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), with a focus on Revenue (ASC 606) Accounting in a public accounting or multinational company setting.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Chartered Accountant (CA).
  • Experience managing project planning, status reporting, timeline estimation, issue tracking, meeting facilitation, and project documentation. Ability to propose next steps and roadblock solutions and anticipate questions and challenges early, manage time, and follow work plans.
  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional and international teams.
  • Excellent organizational skills, along with the ability to have attention to detail.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Understand the accounting and operational flow of the transactions from Order to Cash to envision, design and support reporting of revenue, including the external disclosures of remaining performance obligations under ASC 606.
  • Manage the execution of key processes in the accounting of various streams including performing data analysis, calculations, booking entries and account reconciliations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional business partners across the process for creating processes to address financial reporting needs and lead continuous process improvement and automation for revenue accounting and reporting of remaining performance obligations.
  • Manage data consistency cross various systems and be responsible for related Information Provided by the Entity testings.
  • Understand the processing of transactions to gather support for audit requests and drive process and system enhancements while maintaining efficient financial close processes and SOX controls.
