About The Position

Monitor the sterilization process of packaged food productions to prevent microbial spoilage while ensuring the preparation of batches meet standards and specifications for products manufactured. This role will report to the Quality Manager.

Requirements

Manual loading and unloading retort cart is required, which can require pushing/pulling up to 500 pounds.
Due to the nature of the retorting process, environment is very warm and humid in a non-temperature-controlled environment.
Technical and Mechanical Aptitude.
Must be able to work independently or with others while ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
Able to continually attend and pass necessary training schools for thermal processing.
Minimum 1 year of manufacturing experience
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed oral or written instructions.
Ability to analyze and solve problems
Ability to work and communicate with other plant associates and shift supervisor
Ability to read and comprehend instructions
Ability to complete Forklift Certification
Must be able to work in a team environment and have excellent interpersonal communication skills
Computer Proficiency

Responsibilities

Load carts of product into retorts for the sterilization process
Unload completed retort carts and stage product for post retort packaging in specifically designated areas
Continuously monitor cook times and critical information for each retort cycle
Record all required process information either manually or electronically
Report any process deviation in real time
Review and confirm all critical factors are met for each cycle (chart & retort log)
Process retort products within established scheduled process to ensure commercially sterile product is achieved.
Oversee loading/unloading of retort system.
Responsible for completing and monitoring retort statistics and records
Maintains a safe and compliant work environment at all times. Works safely and wears appropriate PPE for task.
Complies with all environmental, health and safety policies and procedures
