About The Position

Under the direction of the Director of Retention, the Retention Coordinator uses appropriate project and reporting standards, designs and manages assigned projects for Cook County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) employees. The Retention Coordinator creates and executes project work plans and revises them based upon changing needs and requirements; manages day-to-day operational aspects of various projects and their scopes. The Retention Coordinator ensures that deliverables are prepared timely by appropriate team members. The Retention Coordinator effectively applies methodology and enforces project standards as well as prepares for and completes engagement reviews and quality assurance procedures. The Retention Coordinator minimizes exposure to risk and liability on projects and ensures project documents are complete, current, and retained/stored appropriately.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Demonstrated skills with written and oral communication.
  • Expertise in coordinating and managing projects from inception through completion.
  • Willingness to serve as the single point of contact between internal customer (s) and leadership.
  • Expertise in developing solutions to complex, integrated business problems.
  • Ability to travel within and out of the State of Illinois.
  • Ability to work with all levels of CCSO leadership with professionalism.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Demonstrated ability to accept responsibility, be autonomous, proactive, and responsible for accomplishments.
  • Ability to deliver results while working through others and motivate a team culture that is respectful and supports the CCSO values of excellence and integrity.
  • Strong problem-solving and creative skills, ability to exercise sound judgment decision-making based on accurate and timely analyses of information.
  • Ability to create and deliver executive level presentations.
  • Ability to use initiative and independent judgment within established procedural guidelines; assess and prioritize multiple tasks, projects, and demands; establish and maintain cooperative working environments.
  • Capability of performing duties with minimal supervision and managing projects from beginning to end.

Nice To Haves

  • At least two (2) years of professional experience in a Human Resources environment.
  • At least two (2) years of experience in the public sector and/or possess a master’s degree in project management or related field.

Responsibilities

  • Create and continually update procedures to improve project-related processes & efficiencies.
  • Work with the team to develop standardized, documented procedures related to unit.
  • Assist in the development of specialized retention and engagement programming for various departments upon request.
  • Mange the department outlook inbox and calendar for retention and engagement programming and meetings for all department staff.
  • Accountable for project deadlines and successful project completion.
  • Remain abreast of developments and innovations in the field retention and staff engagement by reading current literature, attending professional society and association meetings and conferences and discusses developments and problems of mutual interest with others in the field.

  • Deferred Compensation Program – Employees may elect to enroll in a deferred compensation plan, a tax deferred plan which may be used as a supplemental retirement option.
