About The Position

K&L Wine merchants is excited to be expanding beyond California with the launch of our premium wine and spirits store in Manhattan. This is a unique opportunity to join us at an exciting moment of growth and help anchor our East Coast presence. The Retail Sales Lead is a hands-on sales floor leader who delivers exceptional customer experiences, builds strong customer relationships, and supports daily store operations. This role blends deep product knowledge with leadership, ownership, and a passion for hospitality.

Requirements

• 3–5 years of experience in retail or another customer-facing environment
• Strong leadership presence with a passion for customer service and hospitality
• Wine or spirits certification (WSET, CMS, CSW, CWE) or equivalent professional experience
• Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
• Comfortable using technology and retail systems
• Ability to work flexible schedules including weekends as needed
• Ability to safely lift and move product and operate basic warehouse equipment

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-touch, personalized customer experiences that drive sales and long-term loyalty
• Lead by example on the sales floor and support a positive, collaborative team environment
• Partner with store leadership to drive KPIs and grow the business
• Serve as Manager-on-Duty and keyholder, including opening and closing the store as needed
• Train, coach, and mentor team members
• Develop and maintain strong wine and spirits product knowledge and stay current on industry trends
• Execute daily retail operations including POS transactions, order fulfillment, inventory control, and merchandising
• Support a seamless customer experience across in-store and ecommerce channels
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized store environment
