About The Position

As we prepare to open a brand-new America’s Thrift Stores location, the Retail Supervisor will play an essential role in creating the customer experience and setting the tone for excellence from day one. This is a unique opportunity to help build a store from the ground up—shaping team culture, establishing standards, and creating a positive, energetic environment for both customers and donors. The Retail Supervisor oversees the front end and sales floor, ensuring operations run smoothly, team members are supported, and every guest receives quick, accurate, and friendly service. This hands-on leader actively engages in daily floor operations, auditing, quality control, coaching, and training to elevate performance and uphold company values. Flexibility is key, as this role supports the rotating schedule needed for a new store launch—including mid-shifts, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Requirements

  • Minimum two years of experience as a supervisor, team lead, or key holder in retail.
  • Strong basic math skills and computer proficiency.
  • Solid reading comprehension and ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to observe, coach, and develop team performance.
  • Strong decision-making skills, sound judgment, and the ability to work independently.
  • Successful completion of background check, motor vehicle check, and drug screen.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to work a rotating schedule including mid-shifts, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, direct, and supervise retail team members on the sales floor and at the front end.
  • Assist with hiring, selecting, onboarding, and training new team members for store launch and ongoing operations.
  • Provide consistent observation, coaching, interaction, and recognition to support team development.
  • Create schedules that meet business needs and support efficient operations.
  • Perform all duties of retail team members when needed to support daily operations.
  • Monitor inventory systems, stock levels, and deliveries to maintain product flow.
  • Analyze merchandise and supply levels daily and respond proactively to inventory needs.
  • Oversee cash register operations to ensure smooth, accurate, and friendly transactions.
  • Manage and control cash handling and tender procedures.
  • Perform assigned morning accounting and banking tasks.
  • Address customer and donor questions, requests, and concerns with professionalism and kindness.
  • Model exceptional customer/donor service and train others to deliver a memorable experience.
  • Maintain high standards of merchandise freshness, presentation, pricing accuracy, and overall shop-ability.
  • Create visually appealing displays that enhance the customer experience.
  • Support sales and marketing programs and promotional setups as directed by the General Manager.
  • Foster a respectful, values-driven work environment focused on teamwork and open communication.
  • Use team feedback to identify improvements and take meaningful action.
  • Escalate concerns to the Assistant Store Manager or General Manager when needed to ensure alignment with policies and company values.
  • Safeguard company assets and information, ensuring proper handling and security practices.
  • Promote loss-prevention awareness and uphold all procedures and guidelines.
  • Maintain a safe workplace by enforcing safety practices, providing training, conducting follow-up, and supporting OSHA standards.
  • Serve as manager-on-duty when assigned, taking appropriate leadership action in the absence of the ASM or GM.
  • Assist with overseeing and administering retail operations in full compliance with policies, procedures, and legal requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by store leadership.
