About The Position

The Retail Pharmacy Associate Clerk supports the Pharmacy Techs and the Pharmacist-in-Charge (PIC) by ensuring that the Pharmacy is clean and organized and that customers receive their completed orders in a timely manner. This job description is intended to identify some of the primary duties and responsibilities. Mayers Memorial Hospital District reserves the right to modify, supplement, delete or augment the duties and responsibilities specified in this position description, at MAYERS MEMORIAL HOSPITAL DISTRICT’S sole and absolute discretion.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Must be 18 years of age.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers and employees.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to bend, reach, climb, and squat frequently.
  • Ability to type proficiently.
  • Basic computer skills required to operate pharmacy software and other programs.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in handling prescriptions.
  • Ability to work independently and exhibit effective problem-solving skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in a pharmacy or healthcare setting is preferred.
  • Knowledge of basic pharmacy terminology and medications preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide accurate, completed orders to customers.
  • Totaling up sales
  • Answering phones and directing customer calls to appropriate personnel
  • Stocking and checking in the inventory order.
  • Maintaining and cleaning equipment, work areas, and shelves
  • Processing prescriptions to be filled and ensuring that the pharmacist has the data necessary to fill the orders.
  • Performing other clerical tasks as needed
  • Greeting and assisting customers
  • Record keeping related to inventories, receipts, purchases, and deliveries.
  • Preparing prescription labels
  • Processing medical insurance claims and collecting co-payments
  • Packaging and labeling products under the supervision of a pharmacist
  • Restocking shelves
  • Process and package mailers
  • Able to adapt to new procedures and requirements.
  • Manage and adhere to return to stock process.
  • Unpacking and organizing incoming merchandise, including sorting items that require special handling.
  • Check outdated medications.
  • Working as a team and communicating clearly
  • Helping customers locate over the counter products.
  • Handling customer problems/concerns in a calm manner and referring them to the pharmacist or manager accordingly.
  • Notifying the pharmacist and manager of any problems or malfunctions
  • Checking refrigerator and freezer temperatures
  • Properly processing pseudoephedrine sales
