About The Position

Yellowstone Club Community Foundation is looking for a Retail Manager for Big Sky Thrift. This is a full-time year-round position located in Big Sky, Montana. Purpose: The purpose of the Retail Manager is to oversee day-to-day operations and manage daily operations of Big Sky Thrift.

Requirements

  • Associate degree or equivalent course work; 4+ years of experience in the Retail industry; 2+ year of supervisory experience.
  • Valid State Driver’s License
  • Intermediate/advanced keyboarding skills; Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office systems
  • Able to speak clearly and effectively with Customers, customers, co-workers, vendors and other Yellowstone Club departments. Able to write clearly and legibly.
  • Able to perform basic to complex math calculations.
  • Ability to solve basic to complex business problems.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure that each customer receives outstanding customer service in a customer friendly environment which includes greeting, maintaining outstanding service standards, and all other components of customer service.
  • Empowered to guarantee total customer satisfaction, display hospitality and professionalism to our customers at all times, take pride in representing Yellowstone Club & the Foundation professionally and assure that all transactions with customers are handled in a legal and ethical manner.
  • Understand and apply all property safety and security procedures to maintain a secure and safe environment for employees and customers at all times. In the event of an accident or emergency, seek medical attention if necessary and contact the Foundation Director of Operations immediately.
  • Oversee the maintenance, operation, and optimization of the thrift store facility and shared spaces to ensure they support efficient, safe and effective functioning.
  • Maintain a favorable working relationship with all Foundation & YC employees to foster and promote a positive working environment.
  • Assist in managing Big Sky Thrift employees, including recruitment, hiring, scheduling, coaching, training, and disciplinary action as necessary.
  • Oversee staff to ensure consistent adherence to store policies and all standard operating procedures, including cash handling, donation processing, and opening and closing procedures.
  • Oversee all coordinated services and Big Sky Thrift shared-use spaces, including dumpsters, vehicles, second-hand partners, and all indoor, outdoor, storage, pick‑up/drop‑off, sorting, and retail areas.
  • Initiate interactions with customers to obtain and disperse information, ensure compliance with standards and expectations and to receive feedback.
  • Work with staff to process donations in a timely and efficient manner, ensuring the store is well stocked, clean, and properly merchandised for excellent customer experience.
  • Work with staff to coordinate donation pickups at YC.
  • Responsible for managing the daily operations of Big Sky Thrift.
  • Responsible for conducting training as needed to keep Retail Associates informed about Club & Foundation events, activities, changes and any other information that the team needs to be made.
  • Work with the team to ensure Retail Associates efficiently meet and/or exceed Customer expectations.
  • Be accessible for customers and customer needs.
  • Ensure standards for quality, customer service and Foundation culture expectations are met.
  • Schedule employees to ensure hours of operation are in compliance with store needs and business demands.
  • Interface with other departments in order to achieve store and Foundation goals.
  • Answer customer inquiries by telephone & email.
  • Responsible for handling customer complaints when they escalate beyond the Retail Associate.
  • Recognize thrift employee excellence as well as areas of improvement on a daily basis.
  • Prepare performance appraisals for each thrift employee at the end of the season. Review with the Director of Operations. Present the reviews as needed.
  • Perform all duties and responsibilities in a timely and efficient manner in accordance with established policies, procedures, and standards of service to achieve the overall objectives of this position.
  • Meet departmental productivity, organization, punctuality/attendance and consistency standards.
  • Maintain a positive and respectful attitude.
  • Treat customers and co-workers with professionalism and respect at all times.
  • Maintain a clean and neat appearance at all times.

  • Must be able to work flexible work hours/schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays.
