About The Position

At First Mid, base salary is one component of our Total Rewards program. Exact compensation is determined by factors such as (but not limited to) education, skills, internal equity, and experience. This position offers additional compensation in the form of discretionary short-term incentives (i.e. bonus, incentives, and/or commission). As a Retail Loan Servicing Clerk I, you will be responsible for providing centralized loan servicing support to bank’s branches, customers, loan operations and loan officers. Responsible for performing a variety of clerical functions including the processing of paid note tasks, tracking and reviewing of all pending loan documents and exceptions, escrow management and insurance oversight. Provides excellent service to both internal and external customers.

Requirements

  • High School Education or equivalent.
  • 1+ years of clerical or banking experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products.
  • Detailed information must be handled in an accurate, timely and confidential manner.
  • Must be able to handle a significant workload of varying tasks.
  • High Level of interpersonal skills with the ability to interact professionally with the team as well as internal and external customers.
  • Ability to gain a comprehensive understanding of internal policies and procedures as well as state and federal laws and regulations governing Loan Servicing functions to ensure compliance upon completion of individual job duties.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and release liens or titles upon full loan payment, coordinating with relevant authorities and agencies to ensure timely and accurate releases, which may include electronic recording as applicable.
  • Maintain and organize records of paid loans, including payoff letters, payment histories and related documentation, ensuring compliance with policies and regulations.
  • Communicate with borrowers regarding their loan payoff status and addressing related questions.
  • Completes reviews of loan files after closing to ensure all documentation was obtained and liens perfected.
  • Responsible for tracking, follow up and review of final trailing documentation to ensure timely resolution and completion.
  • Provides exceptional customer service by phone or email to internal and external customers.
  • Utilizes available resources to identify, research and resolve routine customer issues.
  • Accurate imaging of physical loan documents into digital imaging system, ensuring all pages are captured clearly and accurately.
  • Maintain and archive designated original loan documents in filing system.
  • Maintain and manage escrow accounts for loan clients, ensuring all funds are accurately collected and disturbed for property insurance, private mortgage insurance and real estate taxes as well as obtaining supporting invoices.
  • Coordinate with local tax authorities and insurance providers to confirm payment schedules, resolve discrepancies and update client accounts accordingly.
  • Assist clients with inquiries related to their escrow accounts, payment and insurance requirements, ensuring a high level of customer service.
  • Timely communication with customers or bank staff to provide support for concerns/issues related to escrow.
  • Verify and review hazard insurance policies to ensure policy meets lenders requirements.
  • Track and monitors insurance missing policy renewal coverage for borrower’s ensuring policies remain in force.
  • Communicates with insurance agents to resolve identified deficiencies.
  • Completes required training specific to job responsibility.
  • Maintains loan files in a neat and orderly manner.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
