The Retail Community Mortgage Specialist serves as the Truist Mortgage liaison between the community, local government, and local mortgage program agencies. The primary goal is to produce low to moderate income mortgage loans through community partnerships and affordable housing initiatives. This role involves being the product specialist for Truist's Affordable Housing suite of products and Down Payment Assistance programs, executing a Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) plan, and establishing partnerships with relevant government agencies and active participation in affordable housing associations and groups. The specialist will also assist and work with community, faith-based, and non-profit organizations by providing leadership and training for homeownership classes, credit counseling, and promoting understanding of the mortgage lending process. The role champions the Truist referral process within the LMI/CRA Strategy, collaborates with partners on initiatives and sponsorships, and actively participates on committees and boards when appropriate. Maintaining thorough knowledge of Mortgage Strategies, Policies, Procedures, and secondary market investor guidelines, as well as adhering to all Truist policies and procedures and State and Federal laws, is essential. The specialist will also assist Mortgage Loan Fulfillment with client, attorney, or appraiser document follow-up as determined through quality control or post-closing review.
