About The Position

As the Retail Marketplace & Channel Growth Manager, you will own the health, performance, and growth of Hatch’s third-party retail and marketplace channels, including Amazon, Target, Babylist, Walmart, Best Buy, Nordstrom, and select emerging partners. This is a manager-level, high-impact role focused on end-to-end channel ownership. You will balance revenue growth, margin discipline, compliance, and operational excellence while setting priorities across lean resources. You’ll serve as a strategic partner to leaders across Growth, Finance, Operations, Marketing, and Brand—translating retail complexity into clear recommendations and scalable execution. This role will report to the Sr Director, Growth and must be based in the United States or Canada. Hatch is based out of California, so this role will be asked to be available during PST/PDT hours.

Requirements

  • 4–7 years of experience in retail eCommerce, marketplace operations, or channel management.
  • Deep working knowledge of Amazon (Seller or Vendor Central) and major retail partner ecosystems (Target, Babylist, Walmart, etc.).
  • Experience owning channel performance, forecasting, promotions, and/or revenue planning.
  • Strong understanding of retail margins, allowances, deductions, returns, and unit economics.
  • Proven ability to manage external partners and agencies and influence cross-functional stakeholders without direct authority.
  • Strong analytical skills with advanced Excel / Google Sheets experience; familiarity with forecasting or analytics tools a plus.
  • Clear communicator with strong judgment, executive presence, and comfort operating in ambiguity.
  • Highly organized, pragmatic, and comfortable making tradeoffs in a resource-lean environment.

Responsibilities

  • Master the retail landscape. Build deep familiarity with Hatch’s retail channels, revenue drivers, margins, promotional strategy, and retail calendars—especially Amazon, Target, and Babylist.
  • Establish ownership & priorities. Assess current workstreams, compliance risks, promotions, forecasts, and partner initiatives; clearly identify what matters most vs. what should be deprioritized.
  • Build trust & alignment. Form strong working relationships with cross-functional partners (Finance, Ops, Marketing, Creative, CX), agency partners, and key retail contacts.
  • Assess channel health. Review listing health, compliance patterns, recurring issues, and escalation paths; identify opportunities to reduce reactive work.
  • Increase visibility. Begin providing clear, executive-ready updates on channel performance, risks, and upcoming milestones.
  • Own channel strategy. Deliver a clear plan outlining priorities, growth opportunities, promotional guardrails, and recommended tradeoffs across retail channels.
  • Improve forecasting & reporting. Partner with Finance and Operations to refine channel-level forecasting and performance tracking.
  • Set promotion & margin guardrails. Establish clear criteria for evaluating promotions, co-op programs, and retail initiatives through a margin, Buy Box, and brand lens.
  • Strengthen partner execution. Lead retail partner and agency collaboration to ensure launches, promotions, and in-store programs are execution-ready.
  • Implement process improvements. Drive at least one meaningful improvement in tooling, automation, or workflows to reduce recurring compliance or listing issues.
  • Scale channel growth. Deliver measurable revenue growth and improved sell-through across priority retail channels.
  • Elevate retail strategy. Contribute to annual planning and long-range growth discussions, including channel expansion, physical retail opportunities, and partner strategy.
  • Be the retail owner. Serve as the go-to expert for marketplace and retail dynamics, proactively surfacing risks, opportunities, and recommendations to leadership.
  • Build a stronger function. Establish durable processes, clearer prioritization, and scalable ways of working that support future team growth.
