About The Position

At DICK’S Sporting Goods, the Bike Technician is a technically focused role dedicated to providing an exceptional customer experience to cyclists. This individual is responsible for building and repairing bicycles according to established procedures. Leveraging personal experiences and industry research, the Bike Tech will offer strong product recommendations tailored to customer needs. The role involves creating a world-class customer experience through passionate customer service and engagement, particularly within the Bike Department. The technician is also expected to uphold company standards for merchandise presentation and genuinely interact with customers to demonstrate passion, knowledge, dedication, and commitment to their sport or activity. They will promote company programs such as warranty sales, Scorecard (loyalty program), private-label credit cards, and other seasonal promotions, and work towards achieving sales goals for bikes and related merchandise. Additionally, the Bike Technician assists with the assembly of exercise equipment as needed, maintains department presentation standards, adheres to safety and loss prevention policies, and supports the team across the store.

Requirements

  • Ability to stand, bend, stoop, reach, push, pull and lift 15 to 35 lbs. items occasionally (up to 5 times per hour)
  • Ability to work extended periods of time (up to 4 hours) standing or walking

Responsibilities

  • Provide a differentiated customer experience specifically to cyclists
  • Build and repair bicycles according to established procedures
  • Pull from personal experiences and industry research and trends to provide strong product recommendations that align to the customer’s needs
  • Create a world-class customer experience by providing passionate customer service and selling through customer engagement, specifically (but not limited to) our Bike Department
  • Uphold company standards for merchandise presentation
  • Demonstrate ability to genuinely interact with customers to show passion, knowledge, dedication, and commitment in their sport or activity
  • Promote company programs including warranty sales, Scorecard (loyalty program), private-label credit cards, and other seasonal promotions
  • Achieve sales goals through selling bikes and related merchandise
  • Assist with the assembly of exercise equipment as needed
  • Maintains merchandise presentation standards and signage of Bike Department to Company standards as directed
  • Adheres to established policies and procedures related to safety, loss prevention and standard operating procedures
  • Maintains confidentiality of all Company information
  • Takes an all-hands-on-deck approach to support the team across the store
  • Performs other tasks as assigned by management
