About The Position

The Retail Operation Assistant Manager p rofessionally manages all staffing related issues including interviewing, hiring, scheduling and training. Additionally, the ROAM assists the Retail Operations Manager with determining product mix, pricing and inventory for the separate retail locations that make up the Retail Dept. Also provides guests information about the store, its merchandise, the resort, and the surrounding area with excellent customer service skills. Analyzes sales trends to determine optimal staffing levels, merchandise mix and retail prices of merchandise.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of management experience in the hospitality or retail industry
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and organization skills
  • Previous guest service experience
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office and POS knowledge
  • ServeSafe or similar food management certification within 30 days of hire
  • Valid driver license and approved driving record
  • Must be at least 21

Nice To Haves

  • 2+ years of gift/fashion purchasing experience
  • Associate’s degree or higher
  • Knowledge of resort operations

Responsibilities

  • Interview, hire, train, and terminate staff members, including store supervisors and assistants
  • Responsible for preparing weekly schedule for all retail locations, including all levels of employees
  • Work in conjunction with Operations Manager & Merchandising Manager to ensure optimal product placement within each location, and within the department as a whole, accomplished by meeting with vendors, and attending regional and national tradeshows
  • Manage and maintain POS system software
  • Be able to perform all tasks required from Retail Associate to Store Supervisor positions, including Inventory Control and Consumable Products Specialist
  • Develop and implement training programs for Retail staff
  • Other duties as assigned by management
  • Oversee the work of all employees and direct management and supervisory staff in accordance with departmental objectives
  • Directly support operations manager/department managers and stand in as needed
  • Monitor employee training, skills, and task proficiency and adjust as needed
  • Assist with scheduling, staffing, and hiring/disciplinary actions
  • Ensure departmental standards and training guidelines are upheld by supervisory/management staff at a variety of locations/operations
  • Facilitate teamwork building initiatives and monitor progress
  • Provide feedback to/from supervisors and managers
  • Consider feedback and communicate with managers and operations manager to respond and develop solutions
  • Implement long-range departmental objectives beyond the scope of daily operations
  • Direct supervisory and management staff and provide opportunities for growth
  • Promote employee engagement and involvement in decision-making
  • Provide effective feedback and reinforce teachable moments
